If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Gud, that really sucks. I hope it resolves quickly - it makes me sick to my stomach thinking how many people may be facing this kind of thing tomorrow.

Speaking of which, my plans to vote early fell through. How bad are lines supposed to be in Chicago? If I show up when the polls open at 6:00 am, will I be OK?

I should think you'll be okay. The regular polling stations have both electronic and the scantron ballots - which means that lots of people can be voting at the same time instead of one-by-one as with the early voting. Plus a gazillion more polling places too.

I'm planning to get out there early anyway though, and since I have a six a.m. conference call (!) I'll certainly be up.

Also, whoot! Just got a memo that our offices are closing at 3 tomorrow.

Punishingly Intricate

If I've been purged from the voter rolls at the last minute, I'd rather not bother waiting in line.

If nothing else you would get to submit a provisional vote, right? Which is not great but may mean something depending on how things go.

But if you've been able to vote from same address recently it's probably just the website is effed up. I hope it's not causing a lot of people problems

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I had an awesome day canvassing, though! It was so cool. Met lots of Obama supporters and felt like I made a personal connection with a few undecideds.

SO jealous that you live in a swing state.

Tomorrow night from 5:30 - 9:30 I will be working on a poll site finder hotline. I am dorkily gleeful about this.

And I keep singing my new tag line in my head. And getting teary. The next day-and-a-half (lets hope!) are going to be agony.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I heard that Ronnie Woo was walking along Michigan Avenue this morning, carrying an Obama sign and shouting (of course), "Obama WOO! Obama WOO!!!!" (For those not from Chicago or not Cubs fans, Ronnie Woo is the name given the guy who is probably the most famous of Cubs fans. He is also derided for being a bit of a freeloader by trading in his fame for free tickets/booze/food/whatever.)

I wanna read Shir's Victorian Lit paper!! My Vict. Lit class was relatively boring (lots of essays that drove me bonkers--Vict. Lit was the only class in which I enjoyed the poetry more than the prose), but I did have a ball writing a paper on "Alice's Search for Identity" in Alice in Wonderland. Got an A+ and a neat comment from the prof that I still mostly remember 20 years later: "You have an invigorating way of appropriating evidence, one that's taken me all semester to appreciate, but it's grown on me!"

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Grrr. (Although I didn't realize canivote.com was through the states' secretary of state offices. Sorry.)

Annoying, isn't it. The MA site doens't actually let you see if your registered, just details on where to vote/how to register.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

And I keep singing my new tag line in my head.

I wrote an LJ entry this morning with "1 more day" as the subject line, and I wasn't thinking of Les Miz when I wrote it, but as soon as I posted it, I got the song stuck in my head.

Neither was I until you just mentioned it and now I can't stop humming. Curse you, wee Teppy!
