Oh, can I express how absolutely annoyed I am with people about this whole Khalidi tape "scandal"?
1. The dude is a respected scholar. Yes, he's Palestinian, but Palestinian != terrorist. Yes, he's pro-Palestine, but from what I can tell he condemns the violence on both sides.
2. The LA Times is not releasing the tape because their source requested they not do so. They're not doing it to protect Obama, they're doing it because they have Journalistic Intergrity!
3. The only reason anyone knows about the tape is because the Times reported on it themselves, six months ago! If they were really trying to cover things up, they wouldn't have printed a story about it in their frickin' paper in the first place!
Yeesh!
I feel better now.
Kalshane, re: #1, he's not even Palestinian, except in the sense that I'm Irish. He's a natural-born American of Palestinian descent.
To the rest of your post, ITA.
Man was I crashed - mac up at 6:30 and I went back to bed, not fully up until 11.
Suela,
Thank you for that. I hadn't heard of the man before the "scandal" broke and the half-dozen or so articles I read about him didn't mention the American-born aspect. (I could have checked Wikipedia, I suppose, but I tend to be a bit distrustful of it whenever there's big news about something that could inspire folks to start frantically adding their own personal spin to the related articles.)
I read an entire Scott Westerfeld book today, so I can't say I haven't accomplished something today. Still, there's enough time to actually Do Something, I hope.
In between writing on the NaNo project, I've been procrastinating playing on Photoshop.

I'm not done with it-- it's just a first try and I'm not nuts about the font proportions. But I was especially happy with how removing the ad text came out.
HMOG, Terry Tate has returned! There IS a benevolent deity!

In other excellent news of the day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINGER!!!
happy birthday Ginger!
suddenly it is pouring rain
I was glad to here from the Vintner.
Which Westerfeld book, Theo?

I often love John Scalzi: People/Things I Would Vote For President Before I Would Vote For John McCain.
What I particularly love about this entry is how he mentions his Nader rage from 2000; I thought that *I* was the only one who still can't let go of her Nader rage. I seriously ranted about it just the other night, for about 20 minutes, to The Boy. I think he listened so patiently only because he was doped on percocet.
But seriously, y'all. God DAMN.
Anyway, I ALSO love this entry because of #10. Teratoma!
