We killed a homeless man on this bench. Me and Dru. Those were good times. You know, he begged for mercy, and you know, that only made her bite harder.

I worked at the bookstore tonight, and the manager there had the best story. His BIL happens to be a Secret Service agent who was on Barack Obama's detail when he first got one assigned to him, and has since been promoted and is in charge of Michelle's detail now. (He says that they are both the coolest people he's ever worked with and he's utterly charmed by both of them.)

Well, my manager's 3-year-old daughter H is fascinated by the Obamas and loves to shout/sing "Brock O-bah-mah!!" all day long. Yesterday, she spent a good portion of the afternoon drawing this rather elaborate picture of what she said was a dragon. When Jim (manager) went to put it on the refrigerator, she told him, "No, it's for Brock Obama! I wanna give it to Brock Obama!" So, he called his BIL and asked if Jim could mail it to him so he could pass it on to Obama, and after some confusion over why she wanted to give him a picture, BIL agreed. I hope that Obama sends back a photo of him holding the dragon picture!

Who's evil, Shir, the morning or you?

Mornings are always evil, and best dealt with through judicious applications of sleeping under the covers and coffee. If it's you who's evil, well then, the best thing to do is to apply to the Evil League of Evil.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I think morning wins the evilness contest.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think morning wins the evilness contest.

Let me ask you one question: did you go to bed when you should have? Or did shiny, intriguing things keep you up late?

I'm not yet certain morning is to blame.

Ummm... ummm... mom! David's using logic on me again!

(I had almost 6 hours of sleep. That's enough for the sort of schedule I'm having now. Planned to have almost 7).

Besides, kinnda awake now.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm still awake. Probably going to bed soon, I think.

They just turned the heater on in my building, and my apartment is way too hot now. But if I open a window, it'll get too cold.

Oh, the ancient dilemma. Open window for 5-10 minutes, close it and wear a short sleeve shirt?

I turned on a fan. It's helping some.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Huh. Watching Brothers & Sisters In Love on BBC America. Judgey judgey judgey. All the couples they meet with met as adults, but I'm still ultra-squicked.

The German couple especially--she got pregnant four times in four years, and they just kept taking the kids away. I think they took the first two about the same time (just after the second was born), and the third as soon as it was born. So far the mother (dad's in jail for incest--how unfair is that?) has custody of the fourth, but they're being supervised. Wait, no, the epilogue text says she left him for someone she's not relatetd to, and is pregnant again. While he's in jail.

The American couple I judge because they say the government has no right to intrude on what goes on in their house and that the Constitution promises them the pursuit of happiness. You pretty much don't need a legal system at that point, do you? Both those assertions do need to be qualified.

There was a bonus mother/son couple in it, but I don't want to think on that too much. They would be unhealthy even if they weren't related.
