And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Thanks to HuffPost, I just watched the (August, I think) interview with the Obama family where they went over Michelle's frugal fashion tips and she made fun of the idea of Barack as a style icon because the pants he was wearing were a decade old and he was refusing to replace his worn-out belt.

The contrast is sharp. Also, I feel, kind of hilarious, considering how much better Michelle Obama looks in her H&M than Sarah Palin looks in her NM.

In Way Cool News:

X-rays detected from Scotch tape

NEW YORK – Just two weeks after a Nobel Prize highlighted theoretical work on subatomic particles, physicists are announcing a startling discovery about a much more familiar form of matter: Scotch tape. It turns out that if you peel the popular adhesive tape off its roll in a vacuum chamber, it emits X-rays. The researchers even made an X-ray image of one of their fingers.

“Not dead yet!”

Tom, have you tried Territory Ahead or The Sundance catalogs? They might have similar offerings.

“Not dead yet!”

Barb, Thank you! I posted a post in Beep Me, but thank you so very much for the books. It's amazingly generous of you.

My pleasure, Kat-- having done the teaching thing myself and not having the fortitude or patience to deal with the red tapes of administration and craxy parents, I still try my best to give back to the ed community. Especially when it comes to books.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Kat, what books do you still need?

The Grilled Cheese Chronicles: day 3

Today's lesson: Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

I forgot my lesson about removing the paper from between the slices again!

This time I smeared some spicy brown mustard on the inside of both bread slices. It was a good idea!

That is all, please resume your normal nattering.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

from way back

you mean pro-life

yes, I meant pro-life.

I was hearing clips of the debate again today and who the hell does McCain have in mind when he is saying "pro-abortionists"? Who is actually going around trying to get abortion numbers up? freak.

ION - I did not punch anyone on the subway today, but I did come very close to calling an overseas colleague a stupid fuck. I could use more sleep and the election cannot come soon enough.

I like the coat, Tom, but have no idea where you'd get one like it. REI?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Who is actually going around trying to get abortion numbers up? freak.

I am, sorry.

There was almost a fight on my subway tonight. Oh! And apparently there was a shootout right near where I go by last night! (I go through an elevated station, and apparently it was on the street.)

Edit: Pfft. My worker led me astray. It was actually blocks and blocks from where I go. QueensBRIDGE, not QueensBORO. [link]

Territory Ahead or The Sundance catalogs?

Nope.

REI?

Nope. REI is all about the synthetics.

I found this, though. I'll go to the store and take a look.
