Man, now I want grilled cheese. Sadly, all we have is this weird wrapped American "cheese" that WON'T MELT. Okay, most of the members of the wrapped American "cheese" family (which I prefer for my own grilled-cheese needs) have been proven to melt when heat is applied.
I am, therefore, terrified of the "cheese" that we have, because when heat is applied it just sits there and looks at me. It warms up, but won't melt.
Lesson: if, like me, you prefer the unnatural wrapped American "cheese" for your grilled-cheese needs, don't buy the store brand. Shell out the $ for Kraft. It melts.
I like the Land O' Lakes slices best, for whatever reason.
ugh msbelle, I don't envy you 4 hours in an airport with a kid. I hope everything comes together and you catch an earlier flight.
Ditto.
I want more of the queso I had yesterday. I have some in the fridge, but I stepped on the scale this morning. It was Not Good.
Velveeta, for all its flaws, at least melts reliably.
Teppy, how's the ear/vertigo?
I like the Kraft American that isn't wrapped - it just comes in a pre-sliced block. The wrapped ones are too plasticy.
You have to respect Velveeta's lack of pretense. It's a cheese like substance that doesn't really try to pass for cheese.
The wrapped ones are too plasticy.
You've got to take the wrapper off first.
Growing up on a dairy farm, I learned to hate all fake dairy food items....
I wikipediaed Velveeta and then linked through to "processed cheese" and then "government cheese."
Government cheese was SO GOOD. Various parts of my childhood were crappy, but that stuff was om nom nom.
