Angel: Just admit it: you think you're gonna ride in, save the day, and sweep Buffy off her--Spike: Like you're not thinking the same thing. Angel: I'm already seeing somebody. Spike: What, dog girl?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

shows off shiny crappy new tagline....

Points sadly at her own tagline

But people like my dad, who used to vote Republican because that's what he'd always done, who I'm sure Sarah Palin would consider "Joe Six-Pack," are going to surprise the hell out of the country on election day. I truly believe it.

I hope you're right. My Republican until Dubya, 82-year-old, former Naval officer father can't stand McCain. He'll be voting for Obama, too.

My dad is a notorious forwarder of e-mails, usually jokes, but occasionally he'll send a politically themed one. On Tuesday, he sent one that stated how Obama is a smoker, Biden has survived two brain aneurysms, so he'd rather vote for McCain/Palin since there's only one of them who has health issues on that ticket. I don't know if that's his belief or just that he agreed with the e-mail in general, and I wasn't able to ask him before he went on vacation yesterday. But I will ask him after he gets back.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Random non-election-related amusing moment:

I just went out to check the mail (I'm working at home today because my vertigo is OUT OF CONTROL today), and I looked over at the recycle bin and noticed a 40-oz. Colt 45 can.

(Background: last week, we put the recycle bin out on trash day, but they never picked up, for our entire street. We even left it out an extra day in case they were behind schedule, but no pickup.)

Now, despite what you might think, neither of us drinks 40s of Colt 45. So clearly, someone was ambling down our street enjoying a refreshing beverage, and instead of littering or sending the can to the landfill, he or she decided to be responsible and recycle!

That amuses me to no end.

Art Crawl!!!

Obama buys a half hour of network primetime:

The Obama campaign will air a half-hour primetime special on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m.

Sources say the Obama camp is also in talks with NBC and Fox. NBC is said to be very near a deal. With Fox, the matter is likely to remain uncertain as the time period could conflict with Game 6 of the World Series.

Wow.

And he's in NC, isn't he? That's one weighty vote.

September must have been a very fruitful month of fundraising for Obama!

Punishingly Intricate

Whether SHE cares or not is irrelevant. This is why there are image consultants. THEY are damned well aware she's going to be photographed from every angle and at every possible zoom level.

My point is that I don't care if she doesn't care.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

(I'm working at home today because my vertigo is OUT OF CONTROL today)

Oh, ugh. I had some pretty bad vertigo a while back, and it just sucked. And nothing they suggested helped me. Good luck with that....

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Today, for the first time ever, I heard an Obama ad on the radio. WTF? Illinois is solidly pro-Obama, right?

Obama buys a half hour of network primetime:

You know McCain will follow suit. The thing is, even reading the teleprompter, he's twitchy and creepy. I think it'll turn people off.

It's got to be hard to be old and pasty white and twitchy and be compared to Obama, who frankly has got it going on.

Chatty!co-worker, who is quite the clotheshorse (some might even say "dandy"), pointed out that McCain's suit for the town hall debate was really poorly fitted, which made him look dumpier and shorter. It wasn't until McCain and Obama shook hands that I realized that McCain isn't a whole lot shorter than Obama.
