Wikipedia says the Royal Decree of Graces 1815 opened up immigration to any European looking for a little free land as long as they swore loyalty to Spain and converted to Cathlocism. Later decrees even eliminated the conversion requirement. The population of PR went from 155,000 to around one million between 1800-1900. Most of the non-Spanish immigrants were Irish, Scottish, French and German.

I've spent most of my afternoon laboring to understand XML and arrays in ActionScript, and making actual progress, much to my surprise and pleasure. All the work I put in in my C# and Java OOP class seems to have stuck, which is a relief.
