Librarian Warlord

One year, my mom took great delight in dressing my sister up as the devil and me as an angel (yes, my sister was the Difficult Child--I just waited to become so until I got into my 30s!).

Ha! My mom had us dress as sheep one year, with one of my sisters as the black sheep of the family.

“Not dead yet!”

Now I'm wishing mine were young enough to dress as meerkats or lemurs.

Nate's first Halloween

He wants to be something far more fearsome this year. A robotic knight, if I'm remembering correctly.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

For Steph - SFGate article (with pictures!) of the Folsom Street Fair. [link]

One of the comments to the article said something like, "I went to the fair once -- too many hairy asses!" Which made me laugh, because my biggest problem with group kink events is the abundance of people who I'd rather not see naked.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Squirt bottle, it is!! I was trying the loud noise distraction by banging the TV remote on the coffee table, but that's a bad idea at 11:30 at night, since the cat isn't the only one who finds that annoying (neighbors do, too). I also tried catnip and toy temptations, but that doesn't work when I'm falling asleep on the couch and she's still bored enough to scratch again.

The tape did work well--she jumped on the cabinet and kept looking down at her feet to see what the sticky stuff was before she jumped off. I do know that there is some clear double-sided sheets of tape available at the pet store for putting on your furniture to stop the scratching, so I might pick one up and slap it on the cabinet. It'll be less obvious than the packing tape I've got there now.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

the abundance of people who I'd rather not see naked.

(Still sad I missed this year's FSF. Stupid family emergencies.)

Yeah, there's a lot of that at Folsom, but then there's some just pretty people showing off, too, and that makes up for it. In my eyes.

Casper wants to be a black cat for Halloween. I think Dillo will wear Casper's old bunny suit.

Kathy, while you work on getting her to stop scratching, you could probably get a sheet of sturdy acrylic cut to size at a glass/frame shop and figure out how to rig it in front of the screen. (eta: if you are worried about damage, anyway.)

You can also get clear double sided carpet tape, which is probably cheaper than what they're selling at the pet store. My cat like to sharpen her claws in wood, which means she's been trying to use the wood-paneled support post in the basement. The double sided tape seems to have worked.
