Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

The one I told her to sell 2 years ago at about $60 because it was insane to stay invested in single stocks when my brother and I are counting on this trust to pay our debts? That one? Yeah, she didn't sell any and it's at $15 now.

Can't you and your brother stage a coup to take control away from her?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

HMOG.

We actually had a kind of funny semi-related thing at work recently... Someone found some actual stock certificates that hadn't been sold years ago, like they should have been. They were for some drug store chain that doesn't exist anymore, but the stocks turned into Rite-Aid, I think. Turns out, Rite-Aid or whichever one was worth like $3/share when we went to sell it. The CEO was standing in the hall screaming, "How can a DRUG STORE be at THREE DOLLARS?!?!?" Of course, this was all found money, so not an actual problem for us. But still.

So this week? Is made of fail.

Roof leak. Guess I just didn't notice it last night. So far, just discoloration on the wall/ceiling in the bedroom and ceiling of adjacent closet.

But water leaks are one of my phobias. I've had nightmares involving crumbling ceilings and mold. Water stains alone give me the creeps.

Sigh.

And as soon as I eat, I need to vacuum and mop because the floors are gross.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just got a document draft back from someone who I've had to harrass for two weeks with the following note:

I need to radically rewrite the overview I wrote, which is a stream of consciousness diatribe I can only call Clinton-esque in its unnecessary length and self serving tone.

Frankly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I do know I don't want to open the document.

actual stock certificates

Hubby saw a scrapbooking show where the perky hostess burbled about the pretty sheets of paper she found in her husband's file cabinet with the gorgeous engraving and fancy borders, and how lovely they were when she cut out the centers and used the borders on her pages.

She didn't understand why he was so angry with her, if they were important and worth so much, why were they on paper? Especially where she could get to them?

The next piece of paper she owuld have seen would have been a divorce decree.

If you know my sister, this is pretty funny.

Sadly, my Dad chose her as executrix. It was mostly because as the oldest, and the one married with kids, she was by default the more "responsible" one (in his mind). And she did get an MBA from Virgina and a PhD in business from BU. I worked in investment consulting a bit longer than her, but, whatever.

It's just she is 1) mentally unstable, and 2) rich. The trust is a bit like play money to her. Plus, she has this thing about my stepmother that makes her think it's a good thing when the trust doesn't do well because it pays out less to my stepmother (see also #1).

Except for your brother, right?

My grandfather worked in a die factory and apparently got stocks as part of employment that he probably forgot about after one of his strokes, if not long before (no one knew about them.) They were in a safe deposit box we did know about. Anyway, given the factory had long since gone away, we figured they weren't worth much. We were surprised to learn that they were worth nearly $20K. The factory had been bought out by one of the manufacturing giants and the buyouts or whatever were still good.
