I just called the car place and they said that everything is going well and they'll call me when it is done, and now I am trying to run around and randomly put away messes in the apartment so that when my friends show up in a half hour they don't think that we're total slobs. Update: When he said "crowded roadway just past the bridge" what he meant was "crowded street off the freeway, well past the bridge" -- still dangerous, but not as much as when I'd been imagining him and Emmett in the middle of a 5-lane freeway with tons of steel hurtling at them at 70-80 mph.
Emmett's at school and Hec is off on the side of the road waiting for a tow; all's not exactly right with the world, but much improved from a few minutes ago.
And, huh. How bizarre. My Firefox spellcheck doesn't like "all's." C'mon, spellcheck! It's in a Shakespeare title and everything!

OMG it is so effing hot in my office I can barely breathe. And my room doesn't have a window and we don't have control of the thermostat. I'm going to die, and possibly cry on my patients. And I have a really creepy dude coming in at 2 and there won't be anyone here but me.
