Teppy, I'm a little worried about you, too.
There's a lot of difference in being able to handle the things we take on knowingly as opposed to the things that are foisted upon us. And you've had a lot of shit foisted upon you over the past several months - things like your job which have meant proving yourself more than capable every damn day for people who didn't know your worth, which meant living up to an unreasonable standard.
I'm only a little worried at this point because getting to a point where one must scream and rant out the feelings isn't necessarily worrisome.

Seriously, Steph, it sounds like you more than earned a meltdown. The crap has been flying thick-n-fast at you lately, it's to your credit that you held on as long as you did. You have to take care of you first before you have any to spare to take care of others. Much, much coping~, planning~, and finding-people-to-share-the-load~ma to you.
Does it help any to know that if it wasn't for you, specifically your awesome post about taking back the word "fat", I don't think I'd have been able to be The Fat Lady for this party? And that would have been a damn shame 'cause it's gonna be So Cool (once we figure out how to frame me). Because it's true. I was waaaay uncomfortable with the word, but you helped fix it.

SJ, I feel your pain wrt hand controls. Living in rural upstate NY as a teenager, it put off my first car for a few years. Of course AFTER I got a car with them already in it, we found out I could take a test, and confirmed that I didn't need them. And I am oh so grateful I took (and passed) that test. Car~ma for ya.

If it "rawks" a bit, I'm sure its just one of the legs is a lil shorter than the others. Put a little shim in there to help with it. No problem! Have one of the small kids 'shimmy' under the set for you.

And I even expounded about it to my BFF (not an HP fan). When I told her I was torn between Rita Skeeter and The Fat Lady (and leaning toward the latter - because the idea of being framed so excited me), she was like, "That's her only name? I don't think I want you to be her." I think she was worried about my self-esteem or something. So I explained about your post, and it's just a word, and no one thinks "tall" or "blonde" is an insult, and it's just quanititative rather than qualitative, etc. You're like Advil!
And they tell two friends, and so on, and so on...
Teppy, that was a totally deserved meltdown. Here's hoping it leads to your dad cooperating fully with changes in how he gets the care and whatnot he needs.
Teppy, I'm sorry everything's gotten so overwhelming. I hope your dad will take this as his cue to widen his support net a bit.
