Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Emily, I hope you find someone who can recover the data for you.

I am back at my desk after two weeks of being away from it. I'm still jet lagged and still have a head full of snot, so I'm not exactly thrilled to be back.

However, I drove down and back to Richmond yesterday to see my parents and pick up my puppy and that was very, very good.

{{Emily}} What rotten luck. I hope the geek guys can help.

{{Brenda and Lucy}} Much ~ma for a quick and uncomplicated recovery.

I'm sorry, Emily. That sucks.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Yes, this is definitely the "Earth and Shir are on different spheres" day.

Mom called and asked me if I'm sure I wanna visit grandfather tomorrow because "it's a lot of time on the bus".

Mind that that "lot of time" is about half the time it takes me to get to my parents' home. And that it's one of the rare opportunities I have to meet my sister.

"You sure you wanna come? Oh well, good for you for having the patience to ride the bus to see them!".

WTF, mom?

Timelies, All!

I'm very excited to be posting while it's actually still in the A.M. (at least on this coast). So, um, thanks for not having a lot to say so far this morning so I could get caught up...

Oh, ugh, Emily. Is it any comfort that that is So The Kind of Thing That I Would Do, too? Much data-recovery~ma, and finding whatever info you need, even if you have to create it out of thin air~ma, as well.

Health~ma to all of you suffering with the Ick. And recovery~ma to those of you who insist on injuring yourselves.

Shir, it could be you're having a snappish day, or even a snappish time of day - I go to an all-women's gym after work several days a week and I recently noticed that I take a really long time in the changing room to get into workout clothes, and I figured out that part of the reason is that I can hear all the other women being all chatty and at the end of a long work day I'm just Not In The Mood - so I sometimes have to sort of work to adjust my mood before I get out there. You might have been having that kind of day. Or maybe you and this friend should just be more about emailing and texting - nothing wrong with that, and you can keep in touch without being subjected to the long bouts of giggling.

Just my $.02.

OK, I take the "why yes, I'm snappy" version (you had to go logical on me, Epic, right?).

At least my nerves go to violence and not to tears now. OK, they're going to mental violence and "oh food, I love thee" breaks, but I need the weight, as every staring at the mirror reminds me on the days I'm less hungry than usual. Hate to be sensitive and edgy, tell you that.

Emily, again, I cross fingers for you. And for the rest of the people with real problems.

ugh. my mom does that kind of thing. usually, there's some other reason and we have to go through this "thing" until she finally tells me what her real issue is.

ION, I'm in Panera right now, and the featured bagel of the month is a "cherry vanilla bagel". WTF? Talk about EAMW.

I know, Vortex. I think it's because my dad has to go to another place on the way tomorrow, and my mom wants to spare him the taking-me-from-the-central-bus-station-to-hospital-and-back thing. Which is only 15 minutes ride.

Sorry, but not when it's one of the last chances I have to see my grandfather alive. Not to mention, sister time! Yay!
