And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Mom called and asked me if I'm sure I wanna visit grandfather tomorrow because "it's a lot of time on the bus".

ugh. my mom does that kind of thing. usually, there's some other reason and we have to go through this "thing" until she finally tells me what her real issue is.

ION, I'm in Panera right now, and the featured bagel of the month is a "cherry vanilla bagel". WTF? Talk about EAMW.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I know, Vortex. I think it's because my dad has to go to another place on the way tomorrow, and my mom wants to spare him the taking-me-from-the-central-bus-station-to-hospital-and-back thing. Which is only 15 minutes ride.

Sorry, but not when it's one of the last chances I have to see my grandfather alive. Not to mention, sister time! Yay!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

According to Pandora, these things are liken to The 5th Dimension's "Wedding Bell Blues":

Petula Clark
Bobby Sherman
Blossom Toes
Billie Davis.

Pandora = Love.

That sounds like EAMW 2: Whitey's Revenge.

And honestly - "cherry vanilla muffin" sounds pretty apalling too.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

you had to go logical on me, Epic, right?

I'll try not to do it again!

Hee. It just sounded like you were going to a "Can this friendship be saved?" place so I was trying to reassure.

And definitely stand your ground on the visiting. It's valuable time to have with your G'father and sister - you can better deal with whatever issues your mom is having when you're face to face anyway, right?

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I'm pretty sure the friendship with my friend will last. You don't throw away almost 8 years of it over one "being in different spheres" day. Probably should have scheduled with her in a better timing for me, that's all.

I want to take a picture of my grandfather tomorrow. I have the feeling he won't like it, but I realized I don't have any pictures of him from the last few years, and I'd like something to remind me of him.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

At some point you're past muffin and into cake territory.

Shir I'm with Vortex on the Mom thing. Usually when my mom starts with the "are you sure?.." she's worried about something tangential to the topic at hand.

Wow, like 3 reactions to this.
1) Yes Ma'am!
2) why does this somehow trigger the swoon meter? Maybe I've been in Texas too long.
and
3) Does anyone else think that would make a good tagline? If so, can I Shir?

I will ask co-worker, whose bf is head pastry chef at said place and confirm if she indeed is single, and weasel a phone number or something. hopefully. uggg shyness sucks. So what do you do for a date with a women who works in the fancy food industry? Somehow eating out just sounds wrong. And my cooking... well... it's good, but wow, talk about doubly first date nervousness. (and yes, I do over think things, why do you ask?).

Although, last night was kinda crazy. Daughter-of-scenic-painter was craning her neck around (already seated as I was walking behind her) to let me know that she thought I was looking very sharp in my black suit and dug the cowboy boots. And two gay men were very much hitting on me. Why can't I be gay? So much easier to pick up men. Of course they have only one thing on their mind. Those sluts! Humph. (flattering non-the-less). Oh, and Daisy Jane, at the after party, one of the Props crew came up to me to ask about my "hot red-headed date" and to offer kudos to me. I confirmed that you were with me, but that we are just friends, and how fab of a hubby she has. There was more. But there was booze. And I don't drink that much, so eh.

At least my nerves go to violence and not to tears now. OK, they're going to mental violence and "oh food, I love thee" breaks, but I need the weight, as every staring at the mirror reminds me on the days I'm less hungry than usual.

um. OK, here is o_a being culturally aware and hopefully not coming off as insensitive. But if the mirror is giving you trouble, cover it. You are in mourning, there is some culture where that is the practice, no? Doesn't help for getting ready in the morning, but hey, I can't fix everything. Just an idea.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

{{{{Shir}}}} Give yourself a break. 1) Even if you are being snappish, you have a zillion good reasons for it right now; 2) Maybe the lesson is, that you do better spending time with this friend, without the other one - when those two cannot be so wrapped up in each other and their fabulous adventures. And yes, you do need to see your grandfather, and your sister.

Brenda, I'm eagerly awaiting a status report on Lucy.

Barb, how's the ankle feeling today?
