Sir? I think you have a problem with your brain being missing.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Obviously, it's the exact same clumsiness that leads to, say, bumping into tables (causing a bruise and some embarrassment) and tripping over cables attached to IMPORTANT EXPENSIVE THINGS (causing, well, I'll leave that to your imagination, but let's just say that I think all so-called "portable" things should have better shock-proofing, dammit!), but oh boy does one have a bigger effect on my self-confidence and -esteem. I'm such a gigantic loser.

Also, most of what I was going to put in my Educational Technology profile, due next Saturday, was on that computer.

Oh, Em. Shit.

ETA: Do you have somewhere (a Best Buy Geek Squad, maybe) you can take the computer to see if they can recover the data?

Our guy is going to see what he can do. It'll be at least a week, though.

Oh yes, did I mention? It doesn't belong to me. Which maybe makes it worse.

Emily, I hope you find someone who can recover the data for you.

I am back at my desk after two weeks of being away from it. I'm still jet lagged and still have a head full of snot, so I'm not exactly thrilled to be back.

However, I drove down and back to Richmond yesterday to see my parents and pick up my puppy and that was very, very good.

Welcome home, Sparky! Sorry for the ick, may it succumb to remedies quickly.

{{Emily}} What rotten luck. I hope the geek guys can help.

{{Brenda and Lucy}} Much ~ma for a quick and uncomplicated recovery.

I'm sorry, Emily. That sucks.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Yes, this is definitely the "Earth and Shir are on different spheres" day.

Mom called and asked me if I'm sure I wanna visit grandfather tomorrow because "it's a lot of time on the bus".

Mind that that "lot of time" is about half the time it takes me to get to my parents' home. And that it's one of the rare opportunities I have to meet my sister.

"You sure you wanna come? Oh well, good for you for having the patience to ride the bus to see them!".

WTF, mom?
