Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

*Yes, spaghetti. For reference search "chili" in every Buffista thread going back to the beginning of time.

Ha!!! t loves Jess

I needed the reminder to go to B&N tomorrow and see if they have the new BUST. Hopefully I can escape without too much collateral damage to my bank account.

Teppy, I meant to tell you this in LJ, but DEFINITELY pursue any opportunities available to you in any pharma you might have near you. The money in this industry is far better than in textbooks and other traditional publishing areas. I can send you some helpful links, but I think you could increase your salary by 20-30% within a year of making the jump (if not right away).

I'm still stuck in the dilemma of What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up? Pharm writer isn't it, I don't think. But the money would be better, and that's always good, since I need to sock away a nest egg for when I'm worn and wrinkly (well, add substantially to the wee egg-let I have already).

But Pharm writer *could* be it, since I'm good at that shit and have loads of experience. And no other Dream Job is popping up yelling "Pick me! Pick me!"

I swear, I'm walking around asking myself what job would excite me and invigorate me, make me glad to get out of bed in the morning, and....I got nothing.

So if I don't have a dream to chase, I might as well chase the money.

it's definitely not a 9-5 job in my company. Well, I take that back, my publishers do typically work a 40-45 hour work week; we just happen to be in NDA-mode right now.

I get that; crunch time is crunch time, and NDA is the Big Shit.

Shoot me an email if you want further info.

I may take you up on that -- thanks!!!

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I could put the kids on stage and have them do nothing but fart and their parents would be proud.

Do eeeet! I double dog dare ya!

I'm still stuck in the dilemma of What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up?

It's a bugger, isn't it? Because we grow up feeling like we should have A Vocation. And most people don't, actually. But there's this nagging feeling that The Perfect Job must be out there somewhere... (And ditto Mr Right. Which, upon reflection, did work out in the end for you, so maybe The Dream Job is lurking out there somewhere! Either that, or we each got one out of two. Hmm.)

Always Anti-fascist!

You can have a hot lover, a hot job, and a hot apartment. But not all at once.(/Tales Of The City) I love that quote, until I get to the part where I'm all zero-for-three and what the hell am I doing?

Steph, as someone who took a job/promotion because they asked me and I was stagnant (AKA, "why the hell not?" and then "oh shit, what did I do") sometimes just a change helps. Not the dream job, but I still don't know what is. But it has been a kick in the pants. Though lately I want to kick it back. Can't say it hasn't been enlivening, though!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

So if I don't have a dream to chase, I might as well chase the money.

Remember that these things aren't forever. Why not spend the time while you're figuring it out in a place where you're not treated like shit and paid that way? You don't have to spend 13 years at the next job as long as you're comfortable committing for at least a year or two.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I wonder if the people who vote yes on the Sarah Palin poll think anybody could be vice president.

Maybe.

That poll's being pushed on a lot of right wing blogs. As with most internet polls, the credibility of its sample goes down about hourly.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I voted twice. On the iPhone, and the computer. Fuck 'em. At least they are honest, right on the results page it says "not scientific". Ya think? But if that's the case, 50/50 is hardly a glowing endorsement. IJS.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Tons of surgery~ma for your nephew, sj

I'm taking Friday off to go to the EdTA conference.

Hope it goes well. Every year I think, "this year I'll get to go to EdTA." It never works out. (the same goes for USITT) It's gotten hard enough to try to get to FATE (Florida Association of Theatre Educators), FTC (Florida Theatre Conference), SETC (South Eastern Thteare Conference) and Thespian State.

If my school helped with some of the costs it would be easier. Except for Thespian Districts and State, I have to take personal time to attend any conference and foot the bill myself.
