Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm sorry, Cash. How odd for the kids. Speaking of MIL, I need to call mine before I am in big trouble there...
Echoing the weirdness-- I hate that kind of gamesmanship. Tell me what I did and then be pissed off at me and whatever you do, don't take it out on my kids. They don't know any better, but you should.
Speaking of which, I need to call my mother. Already spoke to MiL. I'm a good girl, I am.
I have picked up my copy of Bust with Jilli in it!
I went to the indie record store, which has all kinds of kick-ass magazines that are not really mainstream (BUST, Bitch, and Adbusters, out of all the magazines they have, might be the closest to mainstream), but they didn't have the new BUST yet. Feh.
Am making vegetarian chili for a party tonight, and the whole house smells yummmmmmmy. Need to shower as soon as The Boy vacates the bathroom.
Or maybe I'm mostly freaking out about this because of me, the control freak.
Shir, can you switch to softer food for a while? Peanut butter is soft (especially straight out of the jar) but calorie-laden. I think at least 25 pounds of my weight are due to peanut butter.
Also cheese? That's soft, in the sense of being not crunchy or hard like carrots. And has more calories than carrots.
From Obama's campaign stop in Jacksonville, today.
"I am running for president because we can't afford four more years of a do-nothing economic philosophy that works for Wall Street instead of Main Street, and ends up devastating both," Obama said. "This election is a chance to stand up and say, 'Enough is enough.'"
The Democratic nominee made a promise that if the people of the state support his campaign, "we will not just win Florida, we will win this general election, and you and I together will change this country and change the world."
Over 10K showed up and they had to turn away another 8K. Perhaps... just perhaps... there is hope.

Part of me thinks that the Obama supporters aren't getting polled. You know? So we see the latest numbers and they look grim, but -- like you said, if 10K showed up and another 8K got turned away, and they all vote (which is key, I know that), it seems like Obama has nothing to worry about.
But then I remember the debacle of 2004, with people turning out in record numbers to vote, and always, throughout history, people turn out in record numbers to throw the bum out, not keep the bum in -- but then...they did. (The Ohio results being rigged for Bush nothwithstanding.)
And so I'm still worried.
We'll see how Palm Beach County manages. The election a couple weeks ago was another disaster. They had a recount on one of the issues. First they couldn't find enough ballots, then they found a bunch somewhere else and had too many. We finally switched to character recognition, but the table they give you to use is half the size of the ballot.
I believed with every part of my being that the last 2 presidential elections couldn't possibly go the way it ended up. I just don't know anymore. The ad load here is insane too.

Preachin' to the choir, sister. Given that my state doesn't exactly have a great rep with the last couple of elections.
But still... given how freakin' RED Northeast Florida is, to see those kinds of numbers at least out in support warms the cockles of my little black heart.
I'm also mildly amused that Palin's first campaign stop in Florida is at a retirement village north of Orlando.

Must be something in the air - I bought stuff to make veggie chili tomorrow night.

Must be, since I mentioned over in Natter that I bought the fixings to make chili too.
And I just pulled banana bread from my oven and the whole house smells heavenly-- I tossed in a handful each of butterscotch and chocolate chips.
Mmmmm...
Interrupting politics talk with a personal Grr, Argh.
So, I've been taking Matilda to visit with my dad after church every Sunday since she was a couple of months old. Barring a few missed days due to sickness, Emmett events, or rare and precious visits from seriously out of town Buffistas, Sundays from 12-2 have belonged to Matilda and Papou since, like, forever. And he and I have talked and talked and talked about doing her second birthday party the weekend of the 27th-28th, immediately after her actual birthday, for months. He knows my brother Chris is flying down. He knows my mom works Saturdays and can never make it to any kid-related event unless it's on a Sunday. And he went and scheduled something (I have no idea what, could be anything from a golf game to a fund-raiser for something or other) for noon next Sunday and is astonished that this isn't totally convenient for everyone else.
I mean, fuck. I know damn well I should have spelled it out, not just said, "Let's do it at your place that weekend," but "Let's do it on Sunday, at the same time that we always do your Sunday with Matilda, because that's when your son will be here and that's the only day that will work for her only other local grandparent," but I just feel fucking sick of being the one to organize everything, trying to make everyone in the family happy, and having nobody else notice anything else anyone else is doing at any point, ever. Mostly I'm annoyed at myself for fucking things up for my brother, flying in from Portland for, apparently, nothing.
On the other hand, Matilda herself couldn't care less, and is right now occupied with worrying about the Pee-Wee Herman doll falling down and trying to prop him up next to Snow White so they can keep each other company. I'm clinging to that. That, and the evaporation of McCain's lead in a couple of recent polls.
Think you could nick the flaming spear so's we could beat Shrubwit with it?
PLEASE!!!!!!
Palin's first campaign stop in Florida is at a retirement village north of Orlando.
Is she going to the Villages? That place needs nuts. I think it is part of the "deed restriction" that everyone own a golf cart.
Yea, askye! I hope things go well with the F2F.
Target. Sigh, I love Target. Probably the fact that the closest one is 30 min away keeps me from spending more there; however, when I do go it's at least a $100 visit.
It took 3 book stores in Ocala to find the new edition of Bust with Jilli. I did find it though!
