We stopped having open house a few years ago when almost no parents came. We do an open house before school starts for new students and their families. I'm surprised DD doesn't try to have more things, he so loves a "dog and pony show".
Our mid-term grades come out on Thursday. I wonder how many of the Intensive English 3 parents I will hear from once they see their "little angel" is currently earning a D or an F in my class. At least 50% of both the classes aren't passing and, from what I understand, this is totally normal.
Toddoson, that sounds like a very bad place. I hope you can find a way out
Toddson, sounds like you've earned your wine and DVDs-- and maybe something exceedingly decadent, like a warm scone with Devon cream.
Oh, geez, Barb, I was just thinking I wanted something for dessert, but I have neither a scone nor Devon cream, and now that's all I want!
Toddson, I wish you a way to make that situation better, up to and including new job -ma.

Yet again, Barb has shown herself to be truly wise.
I found a donut. SO not the same.
Hang in there, Toddson!
Oy, Barb!
So, I have a totally informal survey. Who here distinguishes "proper usage" of who/whom?
Here's why I ask. So, in my history of the English language class last week, the prof said that "back in our grandparents time," they distinguished between who and whom, but no one does that anymore. And I thought, "Huh. I do. Maybe not always correctly, but I try." And then I thought, "I bet a lot of Buffistas do too."
One's a subject, one's an object. Of course we distinguish between them.
NOBODY does that any more? And he's an English prof?? Is he cynical and depressed about it, or does he truly believe that? Because I think there are plenty of ranty grammar nuts out there (and Buffistas quite well represented among them!) who try to keep the "whom" going.
...of course, there are many people out there who try to keep "whom" going and get it WRONG, but maybe let's not get into that.
Toddson, that sounds AWFUL!! Jeez. Stabbity splorch indeed! Especially the someone else getting training, and the "where the hell is the stuff I need" and...gawd. I would be all "quit, and see where they end up!" except, no. Get an awesome new better job, and THEN see where they end up without you. Eeesh.
