I was able to pick up Dad's meds the other week. The Walmart pharmacist asked for his birth date, but she didn't seem to check it against anything. So either she keeps all the client birth date data for Forsythe County in her head, or she figured I sounded convincing.
What still bemuses me is that I can buy $50-$60 woth of gas at the pump, but if I go inside, they make me sign for it.
I also noticed the other week that I have a large number of checks with my current driver's license number on them. When I renew in October, the state DL numbering system has changed, so they will be outdated.
So I decided to start using more checks. Oh. My. Dog. I am glad I went to using the check card for most things. Wal*Mart was the worst, processing my check at the till having me sign a slip that I paid electronically by check, and physically checking my ID matches the check.
With the checkcard, it goes through like a visa, I don't have to sign (electronically) if under $25 and they seldom ask for ID any more.
No wonder 95% of all my banking/purchasing is done electronically.
After my last move it took about a year to use up my old checks. Aside from rent and some of my utilities, I just don't write them any more.

I use checks for the electric and gas bills and D's daycare, and that's it. My checks still have my address from 2 apartments ago on them because I use them up so slowly.

I know nobody cares about this, but I don't have anybody to ask -- can I go with Cohen's "Anthem" as a theme song, or is it too pretentious and I should go with Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" instead?
I know neither of those songs, Emily. I had thought about your question, but I didn't think you wanted your theme song to be country :).
Well, if we assume no one will know either of the songs, I guess the question is: do I want to submit the lyrics "Ring the bells that still can ring/Forget your perfect offering/There is a crack, a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in" or "I still only travel by foot and by foot, it's a slow climb/But I'm good at being uncomfortable, so/I can't stop changing all the time"?
What country song, by the way? I tell you, everybody I eat lunch with was thinking country. The other question is about most memorable concert, and they were all mentioning Garth Brooks and Martina McBride. Me, it's all "Far-left probably lesbian bands you've never heard of." And synth-pop.
