I think expecting students to turn off their phones/IMs in class is as reasonable as expecting students not to be insane or assholish. And to expect that administrators should not be big giant DDs either.
Which is to say {{Erin}} and {{GG}}
Pix, I hope you are feeling better.
Augh. The ECN (Emo-Craxy-Nonprofit) just killed me. I have to pull a database snapshot from April because someone was entirely too smart.
Hec, I am SO excited about the tour! I will think good, throat-soothing thoughts in your direction.
It's going to be SO fun. We've got a whole multimedia show to go with the tour. So while we're driving between spots I'll not only be telling Tom stories, but setting up very rare videos and telling images.
Should I open with my favorite Los Angeles joke? It's a quip from a standup I remember from the 80s, but it's the kind of joke only Angelenos would get. I'll whitefont it:
"I just drove down from San Francisco. I took Sepulveda the whole way."
I didn't take a sleeping pill last night but I still had a whacky dream. Some friends and I were staying at a campground across a dirt road from a posh hotel. My parents were staying at the hotel. There was a rough wooden stage at the campground and Stevie Wonder was jamming alone on some drums. I went across to the hotel to find my Dad because I knew he would want to jam with Stevie (Dad doesn't play an instrument, I'm not sure what he was supposed to have played in the dream). I found my Mom but then there was this official-looking hotel person trying to call my Mom over because she was in trouble for comitting a "civil wrong". I was trying to get the official hotel person to tell me what the heck Mom had done when I woke up.
I woke up in the middle of the night, stepped on the phone, and accidentally called my father. Oops.

He didn't find it that catchy at 4 in the morning. I guess he's just not very literary.
