“Not dead yet!”

Thanks for the birthday wishes, y'all-- best birthday present? Today is the first day of school. The kids couldn't quite figure out why I thought this was a good thing.

Happy Birthday Barb!

I am awake. I had a 7AM conference call, which I did not really have to talk at, but which succeeded in making me feel guilty for not having done some stuff (though nobody knew that part, *I* knew it). Um. Sent some emails hoping to try to do that part. Sent some emails about another thing I haven't done. Sent some "damnit, respond to my email" on another thing that isn't my fault but someone needs to respond to my email (that I just sent friday so I can't but them yet). This is where my job starts getting all annoying and stuff, when it becomes a game of "start bugging people to send things in".

And now it's 7:30AM and I'm marginally awake. But dont' really want to be. And don't really have stuff to do, but really DO (like cleaning, and laundry) but it is so not the time and motivation hour for that.

My stomach is starting to get the "awake" message, but my legs have not gotten it, and don't want to get off the couch and go to the kitchen and get breakfast.

Happy birthday, Barb!

Happy anniversary, Jessica and DH!

So, we found a kitten last night. Gray, long-haired, tiny fluff ball. Probably about 4 weeks old? Its eyes were crusted almost shut, so we started it on Momo's leftover eye gel. It also has fleas, poor thing, so we bathed it using Joy (a groomer's tip - it kills fleas) but it still has some. We're buying a flea comb tonight. It's a male, which means we probably aren't keeping it (we prefer female animals) but you guys - it is ridiculously adorable. It looks like a little muppet! However, we just did the kitten thing!

Trust my rage

GC, that is so sweet. Poor homeless animals always just break me but of course, you can't keep them all. I almost took a puppy home the beach a few months ago.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

School starts today here as well. However, this being DC, there's the annual "oh woes! the school repairs aren't finished" song and dance. As well as the annual fuss over the kids who haven't had their shots.

And GC, OF COURSE you prefer girl animals! but, word gets around that you're good people for animals ... they'll hear about you and come by for food, petting, etc. Kind of a hivemind for cats.

I won't be surprised if we end up keeping him. He is so damned adorable. DW's mom is interested in him, too, so that's a possibility. She was there when we caught the little guy (he was terrified - we had to corner him to grab him up). DW won't let me name him as she says that means we def won't want to give him up. I think MiL taking him is the best option. Then we still get to see him! No matter what we do, he'll be with us until he's 12 weeks and then we'll decide.
