“Not dead yet!”

I'm sure the evil principal will be dithering around trying to look like he cares. With each day I loathe him more and more. All 3 of our AP's look miserable as do most of the teachers and staff.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

VICTORY!

I just got a message from the school superintendent. Emergency Weather Services advised her that it wouldn't be safe for the busses to run tomorrow and that they were recommending we not have school. I'm glad the kids aren't going to have to be out in this but outraged that the superintendent wouldn't make the call earlier. It doesn't inspire trust or faith in the leadership or the system.

It was decided, however, that administration and 12 month employees are going to have to go to work so DD will have to go to school tomorrow. Sometimes the universe has a strange sense of humor. I'll smile about that while I'm warm and dry at home.

Thrive to spite them

GG that's insane. Leon, Wakualla, Gadsden, Taylor, Suwanee (they closed early today), and a couple other counties I can't remember are all closed,

It's one reason work is closed today.

If I was a parent of one of your kids I'd be pissed off. Especially if my kid was one he yelled at.

It sucks that people like that are in the school system. Mom had to deal with a real ass hole who had a lot to do with the special ed stuff, he'd love to deny things or requests, things that kids were legally entitled to, and make someone like Mom tell the parents, then he'd swoop down and be the hero. Not to mention he harassed and sexually harassed an employee to a nervous breakdwon, she never sued because she was so emotionally exhausted. He'd say stuff like "I'm not staring at your breat, ther'e something on your shirt." Good ol boys network protected him.

But then she left, got another job and ended up making nearly 6 figures doing consultanting but still an ass. Florida seems to attract them.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

First he yelled at the kids before listening to them, then he threatened to just combine the class together again because they were 'ungrateful'

If you're lucky these students will bring this to their parents and the parents will come at DD with parental fury. This guy should not be in education.

No kidding. Long and storied history of it. My high school band director was married to a woman who'd once been his student... in junior high. They didn't start actually dating until she was sixteen and of course, had to do it on the sly because, you know, that whole jailbait thing.

But then they got married the day she turned eighteen, so it was All Okay.

I'm concerned for Abby this year-- she's in the gifted fifth grade and her teacher, while having sound philosophies on paper, expresses them in less-than-confidence inspiring ways. She also has a history of picking a couple of students, usually boys, to mock and make examples of and then laughs it off as her being "sarcastic." But Abby's got to at least start out in the program this year if I want her to be in it next year.

But GG, I'm SO glad they called school for tomorrow. If you get anything like we've gotten in Jax, no one needs to be out on the roads.

Yep, it's a system that is alive and well here in this area of Florida particularly. They seem to love coaches particularly. I don't know how many administrators are former coaches. Funny thing, I don't think the DD was a coach. He weaseled his way to the top. (I think that's worse)

If you're lucky these students will bring this to their parents and the parents will come at DD with parental fury.

I hope so, too. He needs a good dose of reality.

This guy should not be in education.

I could not agree more.

I've been watching the storm and saw some footage from Jax. I'm glad you are all OK, Barb. My cousins in Satellite Beach lost power to 24 hours and the kids were out of school for at least 3 days because of flooding. (they couldn't wait to get out in the surf) My aunt, uncle and cousins in Melbourne were totally fine and never lost power. My parents live in Eustis and I haven't heard from them. I'll call them tonight to see how they are doing.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Sheesh, GG, I'm glad they came to their senses. Also, I really dislike DD. Just in case that wasn't clear.

Barb, I hope the teacher ends up being better than she is reputed to be.

Sean, I'm sorry you had a rough night. I'm very glad you're getting out of there soon, as painful as it is. Slow transitions are difficult for everyone involved.

OMG, tired. This whole 6AM alarm thing is for the pits. It's going to be even worse when it starts going off at 5:45. Blech. I had a good second day of orientation, but now I'm sitting in the middle of my disaster zone of a classroom and wondering how exactly everything is going to get done in time. Wow. Regular PD starts tomorrow, so I'm not sure how much time I'm really going to have before the students arrive for orientation next Thursday.

Mostly lurking...

Oh, my. So the exam I just took? Three of the four questions WERE NOT COVERED IN THE MATERIAL. Thank goodness for my wicked fast dictionary-combined-with-context skills.

I'm going to pee and then take the final. We have three hours. I *really* hope it doesn't take that long. Then, if I have any energy left, I'll try to go back and finish the very few things I decided to skip in order to make sure the tests got taken.

You're going to be fabulous, as always.

And go on that final, vw! Go!
