Maybe it's time you (I wanted to say "we", but being a man, it seemed like it wasn't up to me) rebrand "Lady" to not be a useless arm candy on a Lord, or a young female in trouble with her parents, or someone whose body can't regulate body temperature naturally. So? What should be the new definition of "Lady"?
Le Tigre has done this a little bit.

Loves! Go on and act surprised.
I got a haircut last night and thankfully have a wee bit of style back in my hair. I'm growing it out (sorry Hec) and it was feeling blah and lifeless and boring as it is in that dreaded in-between stage (just above the shoulders). She trimmed my bangs and made them side-swept and thinned out the bottom and made it jagged at the ends. Much better. Also got some caramelly highlights. Now I can get married tomorrow (!!!) feeling pretty.

Eh. "Woman" is a perfectly good word, and it's more equal to "man" than "lady" is.
If "gentleman" begins to edge out the usage of "man," then I might reconsider.
But why some schools feel the need and not others?
The patriarchy has a death grip.
Hmm, looks like there's an affiliate in my area. I'd heard of them, but thanks for the rec
I like it because you take the clothes to Crest Cleaners, who cleans them free of charge, and transports them to the charity. They give you a claims receipt for your taxes.
Yay marriage! Glamcookie being pretty is not news, but I am still pleased to hear it.
ION, I am mad at ME. I forgot my therapist's appointment. I swear I knew it, I checked it yesterday, but it did not occur to me once all day today. I merrily went out to take advantage of the NOT RAINING and went to Harvard Square and had a burrito and went to Lush and came back to Kendall and got a iced mocha and lalalalala, and... yeah. I just did this a couple months ago too. Maybe even last month? Not long ago at any rate. This is an annoying new habit I tell you what.
Yay, marriage!
The UW women's teams are, unfortunately, the Husky Women.
I have found that checking and questioning my assumptions is a good thing. Mostly, I do it in the context of anti-racist self-education. Lots of things that don't seem loaded or harmful from inside the privilege (spelling hard on phone) bubble are, once you step outside it.
Oh, and I meant to add: Scrappy, I'm glad your BiL is getting some family help.
Also, thanks for the gay support :)
GC, I'm so excited for you both! Happy Nuptials!
