Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

My aunt knows a guy around my age who recently relocated to Chicago and doesn't know anyone. She wants me to meet him, introduce him to people, and show him around Chicago.

It's definitely not a blind date, and if I were a normal person, I think this would be a perfectly reasonable request.

I have no idea where I would take this guy, and most of my friends are just as bizarre as I am.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know if your family and misc people are like mine, shrift, but I always say OK to those requests, and I never actually hear from the person. So it might be OK.

Oh, once in the past nine years did I have to entertain a new New Yorker. We had brunch or something. It was fine.

I don't think I'm that lucky.

Maybe I'll tell my aunt that she can pass along my e-mail address to see if we have anything remotely in common. I shouldn't automatically assume he won't be cool!

Totally.

And you can totally suggest a touristy-Chicago thing to do that shows some city history or how to get around or something. A friend of mine always did the tourist-tours whenever she moved to a new area.

Sorry you had to wait so long at the airport, Jesse! Had I carried my cell.... Didn't even have any interesting weather until a little while ago, too. Finally cooled down. Of course, I was running around when it was still sweltering.

Half a pita and hummus, a handful of cherry tomatoes and a small avocado is dinner, right?

I got a lot done today. All that's really left that needs to be done this weekend is a manicure. Which I think I'll do shortly

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

It's dinner in my book. Sounds yummy, too!

I am totally eating the avocado just sliced with a sprinkling of salt.

That's totally dinner.

It's not like there was anything to be done -- they kept telling us to stay close in case they let us go. I guess it was the storms we had early in the morning fucking everything up later in NYC.

Happy Anniversaries all around!

I have discovered that is impossible to become really annoyed with argumentative people in a check-out line, even in 102° weather, if you've just come from a showing of Mama Mia! and still have the songs running through your head.
