The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I just had to pretend to care that lately the person who staples the routing slip to the newspaper that gets sent around the office has been stapling the pages together.

I don't think I did a very good job.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ha!

I just got a call that I scheduled a meeting for the wrong day, but I swear it's not me, because my notes are super-explicit about when the people were available. Explicit and wrong! Oh well.

Punishingly Intricate

I'm excited this weekend because I don't have any plans in between tonight and Sunday afternoon.

Bliss! My weekend plans are fun but I'd love an unplanned day that involved napping.

I'm cleaning and taking friend from Memphis somewhere for food/drink tonight. Tomorrow practicing early, like 9am, and then loading in at neighborhood festival. Playing at 2 pm, performing at Hampden Idol at 4 pm ( I Want You to Want Me ) and then putting a salad together and having dinner w/ best friends and friend visiting from NJ. At some point stripping and making my bed so friends from NJ have a nice place to sleep Saturday night.

Sunday is early morning 28 or possibly 40 mile bike ride. I hope I can do it!!! Sunday afternoon...maybe I can nap then???

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm reading an article about a 12-year-old girl who's a star basketball player (she's 6'1" and playing on elite high school teams), and just about every description of her games in here includes the phrase "her ponytail bouncing" or something similar. I've noticed the same thing in articles about gymnastics and skating, and sometimes softball. Why do sportswriters have this obsession with ponytails?

Good choice!

I rushed home to take the kitten to the vet....only to get a call cancelling it because the vet is in surgery. Rescheduled to Monday.

Sigh.

“Not dead yet!”

Starting off the weekend with dinner with my in-laws who are back in town after spending the summer in the NC mountains.

Tomorrow with any luck, writing will occur.

There is also college football.

Sunday there is pro football.

I love fall.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Why do sportswriters have this obsession with ponytails?

I don't know, but of all the self-portraits I posted on Flickr, the runaway favorite is one with my face occluded, showing off my lush gray ponytail. ????

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Sunday there is pro football.

Whoo! Poor Perkins was trying to make plans this Sunday, and I was all, "Um.... football?" I will actually get up voluntarily at 9 a.m. on Sunday to watch the Pack. It's a sickness.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

I have to move out of my bedroom this weekend so it can be painted. Which is kind of a good thing, since I really need to do something about my hellacious mound of stuff-on-the-floor anyway. And, of course, it would be fantastic if I could get myself actually all prepared for next week, but it just never seems to happen. I really need someone to keep me on schedule, or at least to remind me that yes, it is entirely possible for "Well, I have ALL DAY to do it, I'll just play another game of Farm Frenzy" to turn into "Oh hey, it's dark out. Oops." There's no magic "Ah, I'm done with goofing off" switch that will just occur at some point.

Anyway. Right now, I'm sushi-bound, then some down-home football! Except I need to share this with you. At today's pep rally I saw our mascot (who I swear I've never seen before -- I think this is new), which looks a whole lot more like a wolf than a cat, and which was wearing today's theme clothing -- camo. So there was a 6'6" snarling wolf wearing hunting clothing. Seriously? This thing scares the shit out of me. Plus, seeing my fellow teachers clad head-to-toe in hunting camouflage just makes me hear dueling banjos. I know, I'm a Yankee city elitist. But I'm having trouble shaking it.
