One thing I really like about academia is no set hours. The summer that I did office work, I nearly went crazy with having to stay in one place until a certain time.

It can be annoying, but I'll trade that every time for be able to leave my work at work.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I got a last minute babysitter and we're going out to hear a band! I feel young again!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

This weekend, I'm going to try to see at least one of the museum exhibitions I've been meaning to see forever, probably Chihuly at the De Young.

When? If you feel like it, call one of us up before or after--the DeYoung is very close. Most of our weekend is crazed with stuff-doing, but there's a chance someone might be around for a quick cup of coffee or such.

Ugh. Since I started paying for my diet food again (price went up to $120 a week--eek!), I've been trying to push my lunch time later in the afternoon, so I can eat dinner later and I'm therefore not starving at bedtime. So, I just finished lunch, and am now way too full.

Ugh.

(It doesn't help that I supplemented lunch with some honey-roasted peanuts and yogurt-with-granola.)

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

What are people doing this weekend?

Writing, going to Ye Olde Spooky Club with the StuntHusband, more writing, and helping gather fruit to give to the queen of the jam collective.

I am shockingly spoiled when it comes to work hours. My commute time counts as work, because I'm on the corporate bus service and am logged into email.

I wasn't actually planning on reserving, but rather making it one of my weekend walks, and showing up right when they open. So, 9:30 either tomorrow or Sunday morning.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I just had to pretend to care that lately the person who staples the routing slip to the newspaper that gets sent around the office has been stapling the pages together.

I don't think I did a very good job.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ha!

I just got a call that I scheduled a meeting for the wrong day, but I swear it's not me, because my notes are super-explicit about when the people were available. Explicit and wrong! Oh well.

Punishingly Intricate

I'm excited this weekend because I don't have any plans in between tonight and Sunday afternoon.

Bliss! My weekend plans are fun but I'd love an unplanned day that involved napping.

I'm cleaning and taking friend from Memphis somewhere for food/drink tonight. Tomorrow practicing early, like 9am, and then loading in at neighborhood festival. Playing at 2 pm, performing at Hampden Idol at 4 pm ( I Want You to Want Me ) and then putting a salad together and having dinner w/ best friends and friend visiting from NJ. At some point stripping and making my bed so friends from NJ have a nice place to sleep Saturday night.

Sunday is early morning 28 or possibly 40 mile bike ride. I hope I can do it!!! Sunday afternoon...maybe I can nap then???

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm reading an article about a 12-year-old girl who's a star basketball player (she's 6'1" and playing on elite high school teams), and just about every description of her games in here includes the phrase "her ponytail bouncing" or something similar. I've noticed the same thing in articles about gymnastics and skating, and sometimes softball. Why do sportswriters have this obsession with ponytails?
