What are people doing this weekend?
Most likely working on my research. I've got a few things that are currently pretty hand-wavy that I need to be able to explain fully to my adviser on Monday.

I am a little bit of a work-a holic, I will admit, and I hate making people disappointed in me. I work late and early at my regular job, too, which led to 3 days this week of working from 6:30 am - 8:40 pm, plus travel time-- so now I am tired and cranky, and I have been doing this to myself since high school (I used to work tirelessly on the school paper, and once ran National Foreign Language Week when my teacher broke her leg. I volunteered (again in high school) to spend the summer cataloging music with our chorus teacher, and I regularly worked 40 hours a week in college, and in the summers in high school) I have to learn how to say no, but at this point, at the theatre, no one is asking, just assuming things will get done.

All the homework I haven't gotten to all week because it's been so hellaciously busy at work.
Do I sound excited?
I'm excited this weekend because I don't have any plans in between tonight and Sunday afternoon. I hope to sleep a lot, and then we'll see. Sunday is a coworker's wedding.
I'm seeing a show tonight. Tomorrow birthday brunch w/the fam. Sunday is a first birthday party.
The usual: dishes and TV tonight, bookstore work, apartment cleaning and laundry tomorrow, and then some shopping at Target and also trying to track down boots for winter on Sunday.
Dancing tonight, then picking up [cough, mumble]thisgirl[mumble] and watching a movie and, um, stuff. Possibly a dancing class tomorrow. I desperately need to do some laundry. And cook some real food. I'd like to go to the farmer's market and buy some pretty flowers cheap before we stop having them.
...that doesn't feel like much. Maybe I should consider making plans.
My hours are supposed to be 8:30-4:30. I'm getting much better of actually leaving somewhat on time.
This weekend, I'm going to try to see at least one of the museum exhibitions I've been meaning to see forever, probably Chihuly at the De Young.
"I leave at 5:30. I can make an exception on rare occasions but I need advance notice."
I think everybody should be able to say something like this, regardless of their actual home situation.
One thing I really like about academia is no set hours. The summer that I did office work, I nearly went crazy with having to stay in one place until a certain time.
