I was appalled (yet not surprised) that McCain got more applause for bashing Obama and glossing over the Code Pink protesters than he did for his POW story, which IMO is a really moving story. But he got tepid applause throughout the whole thing,
Reruns usually get poorer ratings than premieres.
I don't think it is the same. Models have smaller boobs, as do tons of celebrities who are not thought of as ugly.
Some models have larger boobs, some smaller. In the 80s, larger and artificial was quite in fashion. And tons of celebrities have huge lovely breasts and are quite famous for them. Salma Hayek for goodness sake! Sorry, never gonna convince me they're considered unattractive.
But I didn't mean to imply that even famous women who are flat are considered unattractive, rather that it was made very clear to me in my teens that my chest was something to work against in my desire to fashion myself as pretty.
Or maybe I just listened to Chorus Line too much: "Dance 10, looks 3, and I'm still on unemployment..." and "Different is nice but it sure isn't pretty, and pretty is what it's about. I never knew anyone who was different who couldn't figure that out."
It was much simpler when Victoria's Secret fit.
I don't think I've been able to wear a VS bra in close to 10 years, and that was when I was wearing a 34/36B. They are just plain ill-fitting and miss-sized.
I think everyone always has to try on a million things.
Heck, yeah. I just get tired of trying after a while. If I find one of something that fits, I end up buying 3-4 of them, just to make sure I have enough to last for a while. My daughter used to complain that my wardrobe was boring because it all looked the same. Didn't bother me, I just accessorized a lot.
Some day I'll be able to afford button-front shirts tailored to my measurements. That will be a nice day.
Also, from my own experience, the people who REALLY can't find anything to wear are like size 14-16 -- bigger than many "regular" stores carry, but still smaller than plus. At least, that was my experience shopping when I was busting out of my size 14 wardrobe. I couldn't shop anywhere!
it didn't have anything in it that promised his supporters how they would each get tax breaks and their own personal Muslim to pummel.
OMG, Teppy, brilliant.
That was the gist (is it "jist"? I never know) of last night, though, wasn't it? "I will continue to give the corporations you own the enormous tax breaks they're already getting!!! Fuck your workers!!!" He came thisclose to using the phrase "trickle down."
And the appalling video: "Vote McCain and you will ALL get to avenge 9/11, personally, with your bare hands!!!"
"Different is nice but it sure isn't pretty, and pretty is what it's about. I never knew anyone who was different who couldn't figure that out."
But everyone's different...
That was the gist (is it "jist"? I never know) of last night, though, wasn't it?
I didn't watch, because, well, I can't. This political stuff seriously makes me itch. Therefore I do appreciate your excellent sound bites!
Also, it's "gist."
Alterations by a tailor can be surprisingly inexpensive. Buy a shirt to fit the largest part of you - whether that's the shoulders or bust or whatever - and has princess seams - and a decent tailor can take it in easy. Also, Lands End does custom shirts for women based on measurement. They are a little pricey, but not "sell a kidney" pricey.
