This isn't a come-on. I'm in a very serious relationship with a landscape architect.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Now I've got the bright idea that I should go gay-bar hopping with John Barrowman and Ian McKellen, just to watch both of them flirt outrageously with every pretty boy there.

This is a wonderful idea.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wow--Jim Edmonds of the Cubs just had two homers in today's game, and they're still in the fourth inning. And his second one was a grand slam!

And the Padres and Cardinals gave up on him. To be fair, I thought he was done too.

Looks like Angels and Cubs in the World Series right now. We'll see how that plays out.

Looks like the Manny Ramirez trade that was all but closed has fallen apart and he'll stay with the Red Sox. It's like a passion play they need to put on every couple years.

"Manny must go! This is intolerable! He's a flake and he dogs it!"

"Oh no! The deal fell apart (again)! We'll have to keep the best right handed hitter of the last 20 years and win another World Series after all."

Don't jinx it!! I've seen too many great Cubs seasons go straight down the crapper. There's a reason "the last time the Cubs won the National League pennant / was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan," to quote Steve Goodman.

We have dark grey clouds over us right now--looks like we're going to get a doozy of a thunderstorm pretty soon.

I can't jinx it because I'm not a Cubs fan. (I mean, I don't dislike them, and it would be cool if they won after a hundred years and I'm rooting for Rich Harden. Still.)

Anyway, they're sweeping their rival, they've got more pitching than they've ever had in my lifetime, they've got legitimate hitters at most positions and some plus defenders and they're getting Kerry Woods back to close. The only team that comes close to matching them in the NL is Philadelphia and they don't have the pitching. (Though it would be cool to see Harden v. Blanton in the playoffs.)

The guinea pig wearing the crown in the second photo looks just like a pet I used to have. Not an entree!

In fact it's probably detrimental.

Ann, that's a ferret.

There would be a certain something if the Cubs won the World Series on the 100th anniversary of their last win.

They are just using things like polls, facts, and statistics. I'm utilizing gut feelings and shallow commentary I've read on occasion.

In cool news, Fermilab has found the ZZ diboson which is another step on the road to confirming the Higgs boson, further solidifying the standard model, and figuring out why objects have mass.

The LHC may come online in September to further the search, but it probably won't be at full power until next year. Good things happening in particle physics.
