ita, I hope this ER trip goes well. Too much hospital right now. (Heck, my father-in-law is in one right now, due to coughing up blood.)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

How did I not know this? How was this not every fucking headline in the country?

At an April 12 event in his district, Kentucky Rep. Geoff Davis (R) said of Obama: “I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button. He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”

I feel nauseous. Seriously.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Mystery Diagnosis had a real puzzling case on the other night -- a toddler who kept throwing up after she'd been asleep for a couple hours, for months. Her parents were at their wits end, tried taking her to a large number of specialists like gastroenterologists and so on, doing their best with special diets, different kinds of anti-nausea medication and so on.

Finally, a very sharp doctor tried hospitalizing her overnight with an EEG attached. She was having a rare kind of epileptic seizure that stimulated the vagus nerve. (No daytime seizures, no seizures outside of deep sleep in fact.) The happy ending was that it was dead easy to put her on the right kind of medication and she's thriving.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Plei, I KNOW.

It's more than a little jaw-dropping that the reporter who got that quote from him actually followed up to basically say, "Tell me you did NOT just go there," and Westmoreland was more than happy to go right back there again with fuckwit abandon.

eta: Trudy... What? How? What? I....gah. DESPAIR.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Oh, as usual, dear. While I dislike Palin's policies, and am completely unsure of her truthfulness and fitness for office of VP. I think some of her critics are violating Snacky's Law [link]

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Take care of yourself ita.

I'm finally watching Palin's speech. I think she did a good job as a convention speaker, but it was remarkably petty. It will be interesting to see how she does in the debates.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Shit, ita! Take care of yourself.

She reads a speech well because of her broadcast background. Sadly.

I was trying to explain to Paul last night that she reminds me of the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer on SNL back in the day.

I suspect she'll be pulling the Unfrozen Cavewoman Gov'ner BS all through the debates.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Elitist and uppity also mean "not like us." It's become a bad thing to be intellectually curious, open, and tolerant.

For goodness sake, ita, I hope the ER is able to help you.

not your mom's socks.

Two things: a decision tree someone forwarded to me about Sarah Palin from americanpregnancy.org [link]

and the breaking AP wire story about 5 colleges/ 6 years: [link]

I am still at work.

eta: holy crap, "uppity"?? Jeebus that's ragemaking.
