Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Woohoo, Allyson!

I'm packing to drive down to Portland for the Willamette Writers Conference. It's so much better packing for a road trip than a flight! No worrying about the exact size of my toiletries or the ziploc I put them in in case they leak, not having to find space in my suitcase for the stuff I'm going to pick up at Target on the way out of town, knowing the only theoretical limit on my Powell's purchases is trunk/back seat space, etc.

I don't think I'm flying for a writers conference again until if/when I'm the kind of person who gets invited to speak. Fortunately, between them Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver give me plenty of drivable options.

Oh, I'm so relieved, I can't even imagine how relieved you all are.

It's good to know that there's sense in the system.

Since I'm calling the general election with Obama getting more votes, but McCain winning. I looked up the relative values of votes in different states out of pure curiosity.

[link]

Wyoming has the best vote value at %325 more value than the average, while Texas has the worst at %83.

If I get it right, that would mean the popular vote winner will have lost the election twice in the last three elections. But sort of forgotten is that if Kerry had a narrow victory in Ohio rather than Bush having a narrow victory, then Kerry would have won with fewer popular votes and it would be three for three.

I called the primary in 2006, so I figure if I get the general election right, I think I should become a pundit.

Chipping in on 2008 talk.

It's McCain for the Republicans. There's just nobody else in the field.

I'd say it's Obama, Hillary, or maybe Edwards for the dems. I think too many democrats think Hillary can't get elected. If Edwards does have a lady problem then that leaves Obama.

So Obama and McCain.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

That is great, Allyson!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I figure if I get the general election right, I think I should become a pundit.

Thing is, you're too smart to get the job. Your win percentage is too good already.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

No offense Gud but I hope you're wrong this time.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

So happy for you and your family Allyson!

Handbag-currently black crochet bag, but I currently have a green leather and strawlike Prada tote, Printed cloth over hard shell Chanel, and a canvas and red patent leather Fendi that I pull out when I want to look put together. I have a green leather sporty looking purse, red and black mini bowling bag, green snakeskin clutch, pink beaded satin clutch, black satin calvin klien evening purse, black croc skin calvin kline clutch, a big brown tote with a pink h on it, 2 other random brown bags, a macrame bag, and 2 chinese box purses. There are probably more, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

The manscara people are waaaaaaaaay behind the times-Dior or someone already has a men's makeup line. Mr. Jane has been wearing eyeliner regularly for about 2 years now.

I have nothing to say about the freaky bus murderer, but in other horrific news stories, I got one in my inbox about a 11 year old boy who got his arm taken off by a gator in a lake in a subdivision in Slidell. They caught the croc, killed it and retrieved the arm which was then rushed to the New Orleans hospital where they'd taken the boy.
