We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, crap. An old friend of the family just died. Heart-attack, at 57. Leaves a high-school senior daughter and a seven-year-old daughter behind, with his wife, who is a teacher.

He was an old-school progressive: a labor organizer and an activist all his life, marched in every anti-war protest, and for years every summer he organized a whitewater tubing trip in Yolo County for up to twenty people.

I last saw him by complete chance, about three years ago, where he was meeting with a union member in the coffee-shop in my building.

Damn. What a loss. He was one of the Good People.

The principal and his wife have the daughter *and* the adopted son? *And* he's now got a kid from some other chick, too?

Yeah. And am I nuts for thinking Naomi (I think that is her name) keeps reminding me of Elizabeth Berkley (and wasn't her stripper character names Naomi?)

And it took me more than half way through to do the DUH - "Silver" is Kelly's little sis from the original show .

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry, Consuela. What a loss for his young family.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I kept thinking that, too.

Do we know who the father of Kelly's son is?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'm sorry about your friend, Consuela.

If we do, Hil, I missed it.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I'm watching Perkins

I will be watching. I'm tivoing currently (it's on delay here due to baseball).

Consuela, I'm so sorry.

Because books.

That's such a loss, Consuela. I'm so sorry for his family, and everyone who knew him.

Naomi/looks-like-Elizabeth-Berkley was also on Nip/Tuck for a while.

I don't know the answer to that either, Hil.

Naomi/looks-like-Elizabeth-Berkley was also on Nip/Tuck for a while.

Unfortunately she also acts like Elizabeth Berkley.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Okay, seriously? I promise I'll stop harping on this, but this shit is unreal.

Now apparently confirmed that the lobbyist (lobbyist? for a town of 8000?) Palin hired for Wasilla is tied to Abramhoff. Even I'm a little shocked at the guy's reach.

But even more disgusting is the sermon delivered at her church earlier this month by the head of Jews for Jesus, attributing terrorist attacks in Israel to the failure to convert to Christianity. I certainly wouldn't want to validate in any way the wringer Obama got put through over Wright, but seriously? (And yes, she was there, for whatever that means.)

Are they putting us on? This has to be a joke, right?
