All and all, I think that having a pipe bust in your apartment is better than having one burst above your apartment. I hope the people downstairs don't have a lot of damage.
True fact. When we had a pipe incident on my floor in a college dorm, it was the people downstairs who were really screwed. Still sucks for you, though.

I have to work 9-5 this Sunday and Monday. I volunteered because I'll be traveling in October . . . I hope. The DH and I spent 1.5 hours on the phone last night trying to make reservations only to have the agent tell us after it all, when we finally had the credit card out to pay that the system would not accept the reservations! (We were trying to get his ticket on miles, and all the flights had room for him, but apparently, one is not allowed a stopover in Krakow, which happens to be where we have to go.)

Obama said in his speech that he wanted the US to be independent of MIDDLE EASTERN oil in 10 years. Not all foreign oil. I took note of this distinction when he made his statement in his speech last night because I thought that fine point was interesting.

That could doable. We get about half our oil from countries in the Western Hemisphere and 10 percent from Nigeria. [link] Some of those countries aren't exactly our friends, though.
