I like books. I just don't want to take on too much. Do they have an introduction to the modern blurb?

ita, if you are contemplating insurance, I would make sure you have good disability insurance. People are generally underinsured for disability and its far more likely you'll need that.

The status is NOT quo.

If you have no dependents, there is no reason for life insurance. Its purpose is to replace your income for your dependents in the event that you die prematurely.

Not just dependents, though. I don't have dependents, but I pay half of our bills, and losing my income would be a blow to Drew, too. The insurance would also pay off my debts so that they didn't get passed on to my next of kin.

I meant dependents in the sense of someone who depends on your income (or work), not tax dependents. So, even a non-working partner staying at home with kids should have some insurance, because losing them represents an economic loss to the household.

Debts don't get passed on, only assets. The assets have to stand good for the debts though, so if your loved ones want any of your assets they would have to pay the debts. Student loans are forgiven upon death.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Taking care of my death would cost money. I'd imagine life insurance would be a simple way to ensure something's there, if the will is written right.

As for the insurances for me still alive, when employed those are well taken care of. Not sure where I'd start jobless.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I woke up this morning, stepped out of my bed, and...

squish.

squish squish.

A pipe burst in my apartment last night.

I'm sorry, Tom. The only liquid one should wake up to is coffee, brewed in a pot with a timer. I hope your landlord will deal with things quickly and completely.

Happy Birthday, Meara!

Obama's speech was on too late for me last night. (Starting at 10? Dude—I'm in be by 9:30 on work nights.) I'm looking forward to watching it on YouTube, though. It sounds like he was pretty amazing.

I don't have a landlord; I own. I do have a super, though, who lived up to his name this morning.

All and all, I think that having a pipe bust in your apartment is better than having one burst above your apartment. I hope the people downstairs don't have a lot of damage.

Swouncing

Oh, I was skipping just for that: happy birthday, meara! I hope you have a great day and a wonderful year!

Also, it's Jen K's birthday as well (I love it when Buffistas share a birthday), so even though I haven't seen posts from her in forever, I hope the well-wishes will find their way to her somehow.
