Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Draconian Dictator now wants to 'approve' my scripts for the year. I'm thinking of changing my season to: Lysistrata, The Full Monty, Hair, Ubo Roi or other such production. His reactions should be priceless.

The school is promoting a "One School One Book" initiative. One of our graduates (who was one of my students) has published a book on her experiences in the FL foster care system. (The kids think DD is just trying to make himself look good). There are many mixed feelings, from kids and teachers, on the project. Every period we have to read 5 assigned pages and every 15-20 pages we have a reflective journal assignment/discussion to do, too.

So now DD wants to have people tape the readings for teachers who 'don't read aloud well' (yeah), and for students who miss some of the readings because of absences/dual enrollment/vocational classes/etc. Then he got the great idea that podcasting would be perfect. Somehow my name got mixed into this and he wants to 'talk to me' about doing some/all of the reading and being the campus test subject for using podcasting in the classroom. (darn my reading well and love of gadgets)

The irony of his needing me for something yet treating me like crap is amusing. Wonder what he'll do if I say no?

Yay! I have Monday off! My supervisor forgot it was Labor Day!

The Puritan in me harumphed cautiously and muttered "Holiday pay on top of working that day. Just something to think about."

My Muse of Sleeping In With The Cat smacked the Puritan with a pillow.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I think those are Death is Not an Option, Perkins.

The first one wasn't, necessarily.

Where's Plei? She'd understand.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Trying to ignore the FCM. The mental images are more than I can handle tonight.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm going to marry Jon Bon Jovi and ignore the rest, if that's OK.

This weekend, I'm on a plane tomorrow afternoon (oh crap, better pack), probably going to Rhode Island for clamcakes on Saturday, other family activities TBD the rest of the weekend.

The Convo music is better today - plus, it's live. And we've got Al Gore in about 6 minutes - right?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Go Spring Awakening! Choose Spring Awakening!

FCM: Dennis Quaid, Stephen Baldwin, Jim Carrey

Bonus little something-something on the side: Robin Williams

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

My head is reeling a bit from the FCMs. Scaaaarrry.

I am so out of it I have no idea what I'm going to do this weekend. Laundry? Probably. And a bit of grading. And figuring out what Franny needs for her first day. Oy.

Art Crawl!!!

She doesn't start until after Labor Day?

I had no idea that there were school systems that still did that - pretty cool.

Plus - you get Labor Day sales to find all the stuff on that school supply list.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

School in Texas arms teachers: [link]

In the center of the storm is Mr. Thweatt, a man who describes himself as “a contingency planner,” who believes Americans should be less afraid of protecting themselves and who thinks signs at schools saying “gun-free zone” make them targets for armed attacks. “That’s like saying sic ’em to a dog,” he said.
