oh my ... I'm trying to catch up (yes! it was time for the Bataan Death March meeting!).
Wedding story of the week - a co-worker has teenaged children and she and her husband are (very) lapsed Catholics. So they go to a class to find out about getting their kids baptized. The priest finds out that they had a civil ceremony, tells them they've been fornicating - for 17 years - and pretty much kicks them out. So ... they're getting married in the church. They have to take pre-marital counseling sessions ... which are pretty much moot, since they've been married (or fornicating) for 17 years. There was a snag, since she's from El Salvador and was baptized by (anyone wanna guess?) Romero ... and the records of all the ceremonies he conducted - including her baptism - were destroyed. So she had to get a certificate that says she WAS baptized, with no specifics.
She's wearing white ... and giggling hysterically about the whole thing.
Once they're retroactively OK with the church, they can get the kids baptized.
Pre-cana classes? After seventeen years?
This is why I happily stay lapsed. Well, that and the fact that I sinned by marrying a Nice Jewish Boy.

Another event the Mongolians can dominate in!
Happy Birthday Lisah!
Our Olympics are amazing. The Olympic Committee should take a lesson or two.
You know, I think diving should be in the survival Olympics. You never know when you are going to have to do a 1 1/2 pike with 1 1/2 twists dive off a cliff to get away from marauding bears.
Gymnastics could be useful. Combine it with fencing, and you get a bunch of old swashbuckler movies.

Combine it with karate and you have Gymkata.

Or maybe not.

Just what I was thinking!

Wow! What an amazing story.
Then we wandered around their Japanese garden,
Ooooh, it hadn't opened yet when I was there. Got to see the start of it on the train between it and the zoo, though. And there were a dearth of butterflies when I was there.
A very belated happy birthday, lisah.
