CAT-5 Ethernet cables are to be used. Contestants may use any cable they wish, as long as it is capable of carrying 100Mb/s prior to competition. During competition, the colors red, blue, and yellow are used for the 7, 14, and 21 foot cables respectively.

See? I was talking about this yesterday, right? Isn't it the most awesome?? Biathlon is pretty cool too, but since it's only two sports, not AS cool.
I was thinking about it last night, though, like, how would they switch it up for a 21st Century warrior, though? Clearly horseback riding and fencing not so much survival skills anymore. You could leave in the shooting (though possibly change it from pistol?) and running and swimming...maybe change to some sort of Humvee or tank driving or other similar not-horse-but-similar-thing-we-use competition?? What else would you put in there?? I kept trying to think of things, and my mind was pinwheeling around IEDs and parachuting and all sorts of bizarreness that started to get too specific to Americans and Iraq and so on.
It was useful to confuse predators....
