ita, I estimated about 15 seconds, too. I'm such an New Englander that I thought it was a big truck going by at first...until everything in the room started shaking and swaying and my cats went flying away. I failed the earthquake safety test. I just sat here stupidly, and by the time my brain recognized that I should be in a doorway or under something, it was too late. D'oh! At least I feel like I've learned my lesson and will do it next time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just read in someone's LJ that it was felt in San Diego too.

Because books.

Brit import here "hid" under his desk. He'll be hearing about that for a while.

Aw. And, um, hee.

Everyone okay? LAistas, check in! Stephen just came up to tell me about the earthquake.

I think most of us have checked in. I'm waiting to hear back from non-Buffista friends at this point.

This must've happened while I was in the car since I never felt a thing.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

The shaking that night seemed to go on for close to a minute.

Of course, that had a lot to do with the building we were in at the time being on casters.

Of course, that had a lot to do with the building we were in at the time being on casters.

Thinking back, that night is hard to quantify, what with being woken up from a dead sleep and all.

And the building swaying seemed to go on for several minutes, so I was trying to account for just the actual ground shaking, but I think doing that from memory is really impossible.
