ita, I estimated about 15 seconds, too. I'm such an New Englander that I thought it was a big truck going by at first...until everything in the room started shaking and swaying and my cats went flying away. I failed the earthquake safety test. I just sat here stupidly, and by the time my brain recognized that I should be in a doorway or under something, it was too late. D'oh! At least I feel like I've learned my lesson and will do it next time.

Thinking back, that night is hard to quantify, what with being woken up from a dead sleep and all.
And the building swaying seemed to go on for several minutes, so I was trying to account for just the actual ground shaking, but I think doing that from memory is really impossible.
