Hubby doesn't like watching men's gymnastics because he used to do gymnastics in high school--before his body began coming apart on him. He doesn't like watching the things he used to be able to do. Man, I wish I'd known him then.

I think male gymnasts have weird and odd bodies.
They have big, big arms and skinny little legs. One good push on the shoulder and they'd all fall down like dominos.
I can't say I miss the up close and personals -- different strokes, of course, but this year is like "Sports! And then lets see some more sports! And how about some sports!", when the ABC broadcasts in the last few games had headed too far into being nonstop human interest with a few seconds of highlights.
And I don't think Costas is in a piece, but he was looking decidedly Grecian Formula and Tan In A Can to me. Bad makeup department! No biscuit!
And I LOVE the online stuff. I love the fact that each sport has a "more about this sport" page and then the video. It helped me figure out the libiro spot on volleyball.
Finally getting caught up on the opening games. Amazing. So far, I liked the movable type the best. At the end, all I could think was OMGWTFpeople?!?
Now I'm obsessively checking the French names of the countries in the parade to make sure we made the right spelling decisions for our new maps. The dresses of the women holding the country name banners are gorgeous.
Comments I've read from cyclists makes it seem like the humidity was more of an issue than the air quality.
The dresses of the women holding the country name benners are gorgeous.
So true. But it must have been so uncomfortably hot.
Male gymnasts do have weird bodies. The hugely developed upper body thing they've got going on, with the arms that are never quite able to touch their sides, and the fact that they are so freaking short certainly adds to the oddness.
And the greyness of Beijing surprised me too. I figured the poor air quality would be similar to L.A., but it's significantly worse-looking. No wonder people were choosing not to compete certain things under those conditions.
The medals this year are gorgeous! I love the jade rings.
