Angel: He is dead. Technically, he's undead. It's a zombie. Connor: What's a zombie? Angel: It's an undead thing. Connor: Like you? Angel: No, zombies are slow-moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh. Connor: Like you. Angel: No! It's different. Trust me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jeez louise -- my mother just called, and my father's in the hospital. I guess he fainted this afternoon, and then was so dizzy that eventually they took him to the hospital in an ambulance. My mother doesn't seem to think it's anything horrible, but still. Overnight in the hospital does not mean good things. And they are supposed to be going to California on Wednesday.

Nice thing: a couple of their neighbors called to see if there was anything they could do to help. That makes me feel good.

Funny thing: my father was supposed to preach at their church tomorrow (their minister takes the summer off). So they got a sub, who's actually a pretty famous theologian. Only the best can replace my father!

Anyway, hold a good thought, would you?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

“Not dead yet!”

Much ~ma Jesse-- and giggling at the thought that it takes a world famous theologian to replace your dad in the pulpit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Thanks, y'all.

My dad is an excellent preacher, granted, but not famous!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Definitely in my thoughts, Jesse. Ack! Nice work on having the best in backup too. Wow, he's impressive.

::says she who has weekly Cabana Boys in her blog:: *g*

I was going to say... Not that I don't fully appreciate the CBs.

Oh dear, Jesse. I'm hoping it is something stupid like simple dehydration. I'm glad they've got good neighbors watching out for them. You and your parents are in my thoughts. And minimal freakouts to you too. I know, I know. It's part of the territory.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope that there's nothing too seriously wrong with your dad's health, Jesse.

My god, the women volleyball players are cut.

I know people were saying earlier, but goodness.

One of the things that was cool about crewing for dad's triathalons was seeing all the ranges of athletes' bodies. I still recall Mimi(?), who was a 75-80 year old who kicked ass. You'd see her around town, looking like just another slight, little old lady. And then you'd see her at a triathalon in short bike shorts and a sportsbra and holygod. That woman was lean and muscled.

My dad never beat her times, not even when he was at his prime.
