Happy birthday, Aimee!
Very cool Allyson.
amych - thanks for the watch and post results.
I still have some of the march of athletes to watch because mac had a meltdown last night. I know straight up authoritarian is not the way to go with attachment issue-ridden adoptees, but him flatly refusing to follow any instructions when he is in a snit is beyond frustrating. Some new ground rules have been set today when he was calm and non-threatened.
Anyhoo - we have dentisted today. No cavities, but I have some receding gum issues on two teeth. The cause - AGE! and past brushing with hard bristles. AGE!?!?! Oh, that has already started, has it - medical things with the cause being age. let me take to my chair and rest a spell.
Happy Birthday, Aimee!

I hear it's great for keeping your lawn cleared.
At my last eye exam, my prescription got BETTER because of age! Instead of needing bifocals, my eyes are just getting better. I was so happy, because I was having a lot of trouble seeing, and my mom and grandpa and uncle have/had all lost significant portions of their sight through glaucoma, cataracts, and in the case of my uncle, his eye just dying. But really, my glasses were just much too strong!
Happy Birthday, Aimee!
I found that not having a lawn has denied me much displaying of my grumpy old woman-ness. Luckily the subway provides me with many other opportunities to get my GOW on.

Not to mention throwing a well-placed elbow now and again.
My mother tried to tell me she'd found a beautiful dress for me for my birthday. The minute she hit the word ruffles, I stopped her. The woman's definitely going around the bend. I didn't wear ruffles with I was five, for God's sake.
Bon anniversaire, Aimée!

That happened to me when I got new glasses a couple of years ago; the eye doctor said that she sees a lot of people who OVER-corrected their nearsightedness in their 20s, believing that if seeing the eye chart sharply is good, then MEGASHARP must be even better.
And then they hit their 30s (she said), and think they need bifocals, when it just turns out that their previous prescription for nearsightedness was too strong.
My nearsightedness is going the other way, too (back towards regular-sightedness), and it's *weird,* man!
