Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Same bats. But they will roost with other species of bats. They're not speciesist

Bats are cool.

As well as noble, open-minded and well-adjusted!

Too bad about the bug breath, really.

They need Binaca for bats.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I have sent an e-mail! It was a really long e-mail, so I feel accomplished. Perhaps I will watch something on my TiVo and then return a phone call to a recruiter.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Asimov's 30 Laws of Robotics

Betcha' didn't know about the other 27, huh?

Here are some of the additional ones:

  • A robot must tip its hat in the presence of a lady human being, except where such a display would be construed as a come-on by a jealous male human being, who then might pose a difficulty to the Third Law.

  • A robot may not act in such a fashion as would make dogs obsolete, because dogs are less expensive than robots, and robots should be reserved for science things.

  • A robot, when given contradictory orders by two human beings, and assuming those orders do not violate the First Law, must decide which order to follow based on which human being has a deeper voice.

  • A robot, specifically a big, wide robot, may not pretend to be a refrigerator and then make a scary noise when a human being opens it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh msbelle, I totally agree it's not an appropriate threat to say to a kid regardless, but to mac esp ugh.

There will also be a DVD release at some point.

Oh, is that why it won't be on the site forever? Okay, ma-ay-be I can accept that. I was all bummed I couldn't just watch me some Dr Horrible whenever I needed a fix.

I think 3 to 4 years old, not exactly sure—old enough that she can run fairly rapidly up and down stairs on her own. It's not constant, but she does have bouts of shrieking for brief intervals several times an hour from morning to about 11 at night. She's not crying or sobbing or arguing with her parents, they're multiple sharp shrieks like Newt from Aliens, one after another. Something like autism or some form of retardation does seem likely to me—I'll ask the building managers about it the next time I see them.

Ah, so it's not tantrums then. And she does this daily? In that case I'd say that while intermittent loud shrieks are not, in and of themselves, unusual in a 3 to 4 year old, they aren't the kind of behavior you want to encourage as a parent. You've seen her, my guess is your hunch about her developmental issues is good.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Yeah, they're doing a 5 day streaming window online (during which time you can also buy it on iTunes if you live in the US), followed by DVD sales. To make their money back, obviously.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Whedonesque being down is kind of messing with my life. I guess I had no idea how much time I was spending over there.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Baseball: Apparently there is a running tradition dating back to Ichiro's first All-Star Game in 2001 where he rallies the AL side with an unprintable pep talk: [link]

Also, Ichiro remains a fine-looking man. These days sometimes his arms are the main reason I still watch the M's...

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

msbelle, I'm so sorry to hear about mac. I hope he's better now.

Now.

Guess who had a very interesting night.
It started with an early birthday present and mutual day dreaming. Excellent.
Continued with meeting my ex-best-friend, who I wasn't in touch with for the past 2 years. Among many other shiny things, he's now out of the closet. Big jaw dropper (happy and excited for him, but wow!).
Finished now, with me reading my eamils and seeing that they rejected me from the cadet program I wanted to get into. Without testing me this year at all. Yes, they just took my test results from last year and figured out that I won't make it this year as well. NO SHIT, morons. Why did I send you the mountain of files this year again? Right, so I'll be able to reapply and get tested again. No, I didn't think that after raising the standards from last year I'll pass, but you didn't even give me the chance. That not only hurts, but also completely waste of my time and good will.

I'm gonna be grumpy at bed, staring at the early birthday gifts, wake up tomorrow morning and write them a "wtf?" email back. Mountains of paper work, people. Seriously. For getting another rejection.

Oof. Plan B officially starts.

On the bright side - Dr. Horrible.

How could anyone not love Ichiro?
