“Not dead yet!”

The Monday night crew with Orel Hersheiser is much better Tom. I hate listening to Joe Morgan and Jon Miller. They're obnoxious.

Jesse's recipe is basically the same one I use. Super easy. Go clafoutis. Choose clafoutis.

Great day today. Picked blackberries on Mt. Davidson this morning. And just got back from the Rachid Taha concert at Stern Grove. Very fun, with cute Arab men in front of us as an added bonus.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I made a dent in the laundry! I think I will reward myself by ordering in--I don't think I've had "real" dinner in at least a week. And I've made plans to see a play next week (the sky hasn't fallen in, or anything--it's not like I'm doing my own driving). The littlest krav instructor is performing in a musical, and I'm gonna see the matinee.

Right. Ordering in food...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Baby picspam! These are from last weekend, but I just got around to uploading them.

Dylan really wanted that camera

Tons of thunder and lightning going on out there.

I can't recall if it is french or german or both where you have to be careful about stating you are hot (temp wise.) I think you have to use the "make" verb, rather than "be" to indicated you are overheated, not lustful.

Listening to my parents parry D while on the phone to me is just delightful. At one point, D was "hiding" rocks from the yard in the yard (mind you, the yard is MADE of rocks) for my dad to find. And my dad was willingly traipsing about the yard, hunting rocks. The image cracks me up. Rocks hidden in ...ROCKS. He still keeps calling him Josh. And the most hilarious part was when explaining to D that he was on the phone "I'm talking to your Aunt Carol. big sigh Aunt Sara." (Carol is MY aunt, his sister.) I think the toll of keeping up with a 5.5 year old is mental confusion....

Both admit that while D does have boundless energy, he really is an easy kid. Makes up games for himself unprompted (hiding rocks, killing ants) perfectly willing to go off on his own and play when Grandma needs her nap. But he ADORES interaction and doesn't stop talking. Much.

I know my mom will cry when he leaves. Dad will be all gruff and unexpectedly sweet. I think D is more tiring for my dad (he does not have the patience of a saint) but listening to him go on about all the neat, simple adventures they have together (hiding rocks!) is so damned sweet, and it is so clear he's adoring this. Today, D supervised as dad troubleshot the cooler up on the roof. "Don't fall! You'll break everything and need tape and be sad!"

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sara, that's lovely. By far my favorite thing about auntie-hood (as much as I get a kick out of the kid myself) has been seeing the fantastic grandparents my parents turned out to be.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Jessica, we have the same problem with Olivia and the Flip.

Hee! Yeah, all of my recent home movies end like that. Most are about 10 seconds long.

French:
Il faut chaud = It's hot (outside)
J'ai chaud = I'm hot
Je suis chaud = I'm "hot"

Il fait froid = It's cold (outside)
J'ai froid = I'm cold
Je suis froid(e) = I'm frigid

My favorite though is a friend Gwin, who said "Je suis Gwin" instead of "Je m'appelle Gwin", essentially introducing herself as a lesbian to the news reporter who was interviewing her.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We had a hilarious time this weekend calling my aunt Gram, since she's only 43 -- she's my uncle's second wife, the baby's mother is from his first marriage. Of course, then we were saying that actually, 43 is a legit age to be a grandmother, just not in our generations of the family -- her son is 11 or so, and my cousin who just had the baby is 34.
