Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sara, that's lovely. By far my favorite thing about auntie-hood (as much as I get a kick out of the kid myself) has been seeing the fantastic grandparents my parents turned out to be.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Jessica, we have the same problem with Olivia and the Flip.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jessica, we have the same problem with Olivia and the Flip.

Hee! Yeah, all of my recent home movies end like that. Most are about 10 seconds long.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I can't recall if it is french or german or both where you have to be careful about stating you are hot (temp wise.)

French:
Il faut chaud = It's hot (outside)
J'ai chaud = I'm hot
Je suis chaud = I'm "hot"

Il fait froid = It's cold (outside)
J'ai froid = I'm cold
Je suis froid(e) = I'm frigid

My favorite though is a friend Gwin, who said "Je suis Gwin" instead of "Je m'appelle Gwin", essentially introducing herself as a lesbian to the news reporter who was interviewing her.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We had a hilarious time this weekend calling my aunt Gram, since she's only 43 -- she's my uncle's second wife, the baby's mother is from his first marriage. Of course, then we were saying that actually, 43 is a legit age to be a grandmother, just not in our generations of the family -- her son is 11 or so, and my cousin who just had the baby is 34.

Did I post about my friend's son's video game idea? He figured he could do a movie/game/tshow deal with fighting gorillas (and "they'll explode when they die!"). the villian would be Ficious, an evil gorilla who throws poison fish!

Ha, Jesse! That's funny considering my mom was a mother at 18, a grandmother at 36 and a great-grandmother at 56.

This is not unusual for my family, sadly.

Not unusual for a lot of families!

That's awesome.

D's other grandmother is in her 40s. And then there is Miss Louise, a great-grandmother to an 18 year old, and she's younger than my parents (63 and 66.)

I love the evil gorilla videogame idea.

has been seeing the fantastic grandparents my parents turned out to be.

Yup. One of my only major regrets about not planning to have kids was that I really wanted my parents to have the chance to be grandparents, and to see it. Thank goodness for my brother and SIL. They stepped right up! Now if only they decide for another and it's a girl (unlikely- but I'd love to see if/how it'd be different. Probably not much, but it's an untread path! But still not enough for me to either dare to tell SIL that or do it myself.)

All the family age stuff is funny -- I told a coworker I was going to my grandmother's 89th birthday, and she said, "Your grandmother's young!" We're the same age, and I guess both of her grandmothers are mid-90s. I was like, dude, my other grandmother just turned 80! And my parents were married for like 7 years before I was born.
