"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

OMG, you guys. I was so sorry and shocked and appalled to read about the weekend that some of you had. My heart goes out (and so's my hope that I use this expression right this time) to you.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

And in other note: Happy birthdays, weekend borns!

My weekend had not-much-sleep, good conversations with my dad (who's thinking about becoming a teacher), and for my utter shocked-self, who gave up about the idea of restoring a relationship she had with her once-best-male-friend (after the war two years ago, on which he was an active and very busy officer, he changed a lot and wouldn't tell me a thing about what's going on with him), a text message saying "Hey! thanks for the birthday wishes. We gotta meet! When will you be around?".

That caused tears of joy in my eyes. Not that I even dare to dream that we'll get back to be as close as we were (we met in the army - we served in the same unit and shared an office), and I guess we both changed (I know I have, and I don't even know if he's still in the army), but I just regretfully gave up the idea of having any kind of relationship with him about a year and a half ago. And hopefully, I'll meet him in two days.

Also, I practically mourned the end of the weekend this morning over 2 cups of coffee. I swear that having a cat for 20 minutes every Sunday morning would have made the returning to work so much easier.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

OK, since I am seemingly incapable of making decisions today, what should I do today?

Option 1: go to the farmers market. Pros: good fresh food, spend time outside. Cons: long enough walk that I'll be tired this afternoon, and I've got a bunch of fresh veggies in the fridge right now -- I'd mostly be buying fruit for making jam.

Option 2: go to Trader Joe's. Pros: I could get peanut butter and cheese and pasta and other stuff like that that I need. It's not too far, so I'll still have enough energy for a bike ride this afternoon. If I want fruit, I can go to the little nearby farmers market on Wednesday. Cons: the little nearby farmers market on Wednesday has about five farmers, so they might not have much selection. I'd probably end up buying stuff like frozen pad thai, when I've got plenty of fresh food to make better meals, if I just bother to cook it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

How warm is it likely to be in the afternoon versus the morning? I find a make a lot of decisions in the summer based on what the temperature and humidity are going to do.... :-)

Hmm. Good point. Probably hotter in the afternoon.

I haven't had breakfast yet. This is probably part of why I'm so indecisive. Also, totally crazy sleep pattern lately.

Well Hil, it seems like you have to decide how much you want to go to bike ride this afternoon and decide by this.

But if it were me, the living proof to that you can actually forget how to ride a bicycle, I'd go for option 2. Plus, you can never know what fresh fruits will come your way until Wed.

Edit: the usual.
