I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Health-ma southward.

I have almost entirely replaced my soda/soft beverage consumption with Izze sparkling juices. Each serving (1 bottle- 355ml) contains: 130 calories, 0g fat, 20mg sodium, 29g of carbs, all from natural fruit sugars.

Ooh, yeah, I had some sparkling pomegranate juice a few weeks ago, and it was good, and the stuff on the label was intriguingly good as well.

But I still drink Coke, the nectar of the gods. I try not to drink too much, but it's usually what I have with dinner, if not milk or some sort of fruit juice.

I also like the Crystal Light On-the-Go packs. They turn water into fruity water!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Oh crap. My mom just called. My dad needs open heart surgery, probably tomorrow or thursday.

Kat, is it bypass surgery? I'll send all the good cardiac vibes to your dad, since my dad doesn't seem to need them these days. t knocks on wood

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Fuck, Kat. That's a whole bundle of stress. Is there anything we can mobilise and do?

I still think the stuff's too sweet, but turning people off it by comparing it to Coke is heavy handed and clumsy.

Why?

Because of just what Jessica says. 27g of carbs isn't really that much like 13g of carbs. Apple juice is sweeter than VitaminWater.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Kat, so much ~ma to your dad.

Yep. He's not being transferred to any of the big Cleveland hospitals though.

And, I can't just up and take off even though I'm doing nothing in this job that someone else couldn't do. I need to work 180 days to get paid through the summer. So, here I sit.

I'm getting panicky.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Hell's Most Wanted: Are you on this list?

The list is a little... odd. "Sports Fans"?

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Carbs aren't relevant unless you're already reading nutrition labels -- I have no idea what the relevance of 27g of carbs to 13g of carbs is if the caloric content is similar. I would argue an 8 oz can of coke is the most familiar liquid, aside from water, worldwide-- people have a constellation of nutritional associations with it. Pointing out that vitamin water has not only about 125 more calories than water, but resembles something that is viewed to be unhealthy, is not a bad comparison. What would make a better comparison?
