Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'd take advantage of Netflix's Instant watch, if it worked on my computer.(Of course, my connection's probably too slow anyhow)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The day of the Great Robot Revolution draws nearer....

Robots aim to top humans at air hockey

PORTLAND, Ore. — First, a supercomputer beats a chess master. Then, an artificial intelligence program deals defeat to a poker champion. Next: A robot takes on humans in air hockey.

An upgraded robot designed by General Electric Fanuc (GEF) and programmed by Nuvation Research Corp. (San Jose, Calif.) can beat most human air hockey players, its developers claim.

...

"Good air hockey players can score against the robot if they try really really hard. But its pretty obvious that the human is the underdog--for one thing, the audience cheers whenever the human makes a goal," quipped Michael Worry, president and CEO of Nuvation.

What's next? Foosball?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

eep! They had to run a scan on my computer at work because scary pop-ups were taking over and trying to download things. I swear I did not go anywhere bad. Now I fear they'll be watching my internet use.

This happened to a coworker of mine recently. She keeps saying, "I swear it wasn't porn!!!"

OMG, I am full of business dinner. Of course, I suggested the place based on its closeness to a particular subway line for other people, and then they all took cabs, but whatever. It was still delicious and free.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Oh, I had such a relaxing evening at work. They are recarpeting our floor, so we have to empty our desks, file cabinets, etc. But since I'm leaving the firm soon, most of this stuff was going to be tossed soon anyway. Emptying my desk and file cabinet, shredding file after file of documents I will never have to think about again was like getting a massage. I actually feel physically lighter. I love throwing things away.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

ION, the Cubs allowed 7 homers? WTF?

The wind was blowing out in Wrigley? That's unusual?

Now tagless for your comfort.

I saw that, JZ and wanted to slap the shit out of the idiots for those comments.

Matt, I read that quote in the print edition and my eyes rolled out of my head. Real pillar of the community there.

DH read about the kid going missing a few days ago and he thought the guy might have gotten drunk and fell into the river walking home. There were massive searches for him. I hope that these were the first cases where the accused acted on his proclivities and that there aren't other victims out there.

ION, the sea scallops pan fried in butter with a touch of fresh garlic served with pasta and summer veggies were delish.

DH also ordered me the soundtrack to Treasure Planet because I love John Rzenik's song on it so much. We're listening to it now on the Playstation 3 with this awesome planet view visual player and it's entrancing.

Thanks, Tom. I LOVE the film and was crushed to find out just how big of a flop it really was.

Catching up, between Kat's encounter and (not clicking on link) what's been repeated here from that newstory, I'm feeling despairing of people. How the fuck do we go so wrong?

Long, cranky day. Contentious meetings that make me want to slap people. ("That's the way it works. We can't and won't rewrite the entire engine in the next 3 weeks because you want to be fucking special. It's the paradigm established 20 years ago and you really want us to break 35 TB worth so you can be SPECIAL and SMRTR?") Nervousmaking data deletion and imagining the worst case scenario and yelling and UHG. Dental cleaning (my teeth stain like a motherfucker beyond what they should given my habits so I should get cleanings 3x a year, oh and by the way, you need a couple more fillings, but at least we won't charge you for them as they are on buildup, and a well intentioned but unnecessary discourse of economics which annoys me because I love the dentist and the work and I haven't found a new one who is on the PDP, thus saving me a grand and I'm torn between saying fuckit because I'm tired of risking and trying out new people who kowtow to the fucking insurance companies insane low quotes, but I'm within a few hundred of my yearly max already and it isn't urgent urgent like the root canal was and I have to go back again next week for the fillings and and and.)

AND I'M JUST TIRED.

Seriously, we need to work on the world domination plan before things get any more out of control.
