Now tagless for your comfort.

Thanks, Tom. I LOVE the film and was crushed to find out just how big of a flop it really was.

Catching up, between Kat's encounter and (not clicking on link) what's been repeated here from that newstory, I'm feeling despairing of people. How the fuck do we go so wrong?

Long, cranky day. Contentious meetings that make me want to slap people. ("That's the way it works. We can't and won't rewrite the entire engine in the next 3 weeks because you want to be fucking special. It's the paradigm established 20 years ago and you really want us to break 35 TB worth so you can be SPECIAL and SMRTR?") Nervousmaking data deletion and imagining the worst case scenario and yelling and UHG. Dental cleaning (my teeth stain like a motherfucker beyond what they should given my habits so I should get cleanings 3x a year, oh and by the way, you need a couple more fillings, but at least we won't charge you for them as they are on buildup, and a well intentioned but unnecessary discourse of economics which annoys me because I love the dentist and the work and I haven't found a new one who is on the PDP, thus saving me a grand and I'm torn between saying fuckit because I'm tired of risking and trying out new people who kowtow to the fucking insurance companies insane low quotes, but I'm within a few hundred of my yearly max already and it isn't urgent urgent like the root canal was and I have to go back again next week for the fillings and and and.)

AND I'M JUST TIRED.

Seriously, we need to work on the world domination plan before things get any more out of control.

In happy news? Noah's latest game is called Put Toys in Moms' Mouths.... he cracks up when he's chewing on a bath toy and he gets me to chew on one too. Silly little bug.

AND, I am halfway done with summer school.

Noah cracks me up, too.

DH is obsessed with this global visualization on the PS3. He's fond of his maps and this floating, rotating Earth has captivated him.

oh man, I just caught up with a former coworker. She and I both agreed that as mid career teachers, we just don't have the same emotional energy to be all up in our students lives and they we don't care as much about them as we do our first rounds of students. Then we caught up on those kids many of whom are graduating from college this year. MEEP. I remember when they were in 7th grade and in trouble for acting badly on a school camping trip.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Wow, Kat, those students' behavior is utterly appalling. I hope the student police can do something about it.

I love that Zambrano, in addition to being a hell of a pitcher, is also such a good batter that he's currently batting for Pitcher #2 (who's being yanked after only 1 1/3 innings), even though since he pitched a great game last night, there's no chance in hell he's going to pitch any today.

I love Big Z as well (though I have a feeling if he played for anyone else his antics would irritate me). There was a great quote from Pinella in the Trib about Z wanting to finish the game last night and Lou placated him by letting him take his final at-bat. You can't go wrong with a switch-hitting slugger that's also a great pitcher. I actually cackle with glee a bit everytime Lou uses Zambrano as a PH. (I have a similar cackle whenever Fontenot hits a homer, like he did today. "Tiny, but fierce!".)

Also, Kalshane! Any new Mattias pictures?

There are, I just need to sort through them and upload them to the interwebs. Which I've been meaning to do for the last 3-4 months and never seem to have the time. I definitely want to get the pictures from his birthday up. Soon, I hope.

ION, the Cubs allowed 7 homers? WTF?

No kidding! I completely trust Hec's opinion on baseball matters, but Gaudin serving up a homerun to the very first batter he faced as a Cub isn't exactly inspiring.

Oh well, the Cubs still took the series. Just wish the entire pitching staff hadn't decided they were going to throwing 9 innings of batting practice for the Reds today.

After clicking around on Google's "Getting Into Google" site, and I am now convinced that I am going to totally bomb my phone interview tomorrow, and that may be good, because dear god, I'm not sure I can handle an in-person interview.

Way to set the standard too high for me, Google! Thanks a bunch!

ETA: Pessimist shrift is pessimistic. Anyway, I ought to go to bed so I can talk to Google and then go see a guy about a SysAdmin position.

Oops!

No, he's go a killer slider. Might take him a while to learn the NL though.

Oh well, Harden starts against the Giants on Saturday.

In other baseball news, we lost our game last night against our arch-nemesis Alameda. We lost 5-4, but we played shitty. Made at least five significant mistakes that cost us the game. Which dropped us to the losers/elimination bracket (in a double elimination tourney). But we won tonight, and now we face Alameda again tomorrow. But since they're in the winner's bracket we have to beat them twice to win the District.

Last year we also faced them in the finals, but we were in the winner's bracket. They won the first game, but we won the second (on Emmett's grand slam) and we won the District.

Also, we've been playing out in fucking Antioch. It was 105 degrees for last night's game. Today it was down to a balmy 96 when we arrived.

Emmett had a two-RBI single in the first, and caught for five out of six innings. He's caught all but two innings of the all-star tournament, which is quite a show of faith by his manager.

It would've been a little embarrasing to lose tonight since all of the other Albany teams (10 y.o.s, 12 y.o.s, and Juniors) are in the District championships, and we're defending champs from last year. And we won Tournament of Champions this year. Anyway. We're in the finals. We've got to win twice; Alameda only needs to win once.

YAY for finals, Hec. Since I don't know anyone on the Alameda team, I can happily cheer for Emmett. GO GET EM!!!!!
