We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I meant to say that those kids are complete fuckos, Kat. They deserve every bit of punishment the campus police and school authorities can come up with. Grrrr.

As a big fan of Ace of Cakes, am now jealous of lisah's seeing Mary Alice. That woman is so cool, and handles that office wonderfully.

Still have a bit of a headache (combined with cramps, it's all so great! Not really), but a potential office screwup ended up being resolved in Not My Screwup, which is mostly good. Instead, it's Kentucky's, which they are handling by sending us what we paid them for six weeks before the subscription ran out, but which they didn't think we had renewed in time until I pointed out the whole "six-weeks-early" thing. Fie on them.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

lisah, it sounds like you live next door to PeeWee's Playhouse. And I mean that in a very good way.

Totally.

In awesome SF news - does any localista want to go with me to the Mechanicrawl happening this Saturday? It looks to be made entirely of awesome and gears.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've been reading about this for a while - I'd totally go if I was still in SF. Triple-expansion reciprocating steam engine! Electro-mechanical analog torpedo fire-control computer!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

From the Rove story:

Rove's lawyer cited a letter from the Justice Department saying Rove is "constitutionally immune from compelled congressional testimony."

Interesting, as I was unaware that even the President himself could claim to be immune to formal summons to appear before Congress. I hope this goes to criminal prosecution, with a sentencing date of January 10.

Awesome customized hearse: [link]

A blogger sez:

In his gallery there are several dozen gems, especially the incredible Kargoyle. It's a hearse that's been chopped, lowered, painted purple, and most appropriately, it was given suicide doors.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We just had a going away party, and why god why did they have queso and chips?!? Now I am busting out of my clothes. And I still have to go to dinner with coworkers!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

My DH is AWESOME, Part 195: When I was in high school, I worked near an art store. they had a collection of Polish Cyrk poster, which I fell in love with and which were way too expensive for me. I used to go over there on a regular basis just to look at them.

The Polish Goverment hired artists to design posters for the State Circus, posters which had to be metaphorical rather than straighforward--and most of them are amazing. Here's some info about them. [link] I have always wanted one and have mentioned them to the DH and we looked at sites periodically for the last few years.

Guess what I am getting for my birthday? This one, which has long been one of my faves: [link]

That's such a cool thing -- and an awesome poster. Also an awesome DH, but we knew that!
