Natter 59: Dominate Your Face!
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Crapassed real estate market, crapassed economy... there are people who were gainfully employed and had homes who are now living out of their cars because of the aforementioned.
The Hub and I have friends who just five years ago purchased their first house that they're now allowing to be foreclosed simply because they've been screwed over so hard by lenders and refinancing and interest rates.
They're actually relieved to be renting again. It's wild.
happy bday sara!!!!!
Jilli, I got the Aromaleigh powder you recommended! It was perfect timing, because I did something stupid that caused my face to break out in itchy hives, and the powder took all the red out without irritating. It is so awesome.
Question: Is it really necessary to list shit like Firefox and Explorer under programs/software you know? I mean, srsly? I see it listed occasionally on job descriptions, and I'm so puzzled. Like, you don't know how to open a browser? Really?
Allyson, when people list those as skills on a CV, I toss the CV away. Granted, I'm a technical publisher, so it would worry me if someone seeking a technical publishing job listed use of Firefox and Explorer as "skills".
When I was temping as a receptionist, I had someone recommend I write down the specs of the phones we were using, for my resume. Yeah, I could pretty much pick up any phone system in five minutes -- we aren't talking switchboards here -- so I let it go.
Somehow, the music discussion got me earwormed with "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray.
What would be the latest at night I could play Dance Dance Revolution before my downstairs neighbors have a reasonable complaint? I feel like playing, but it's 9:30.
I've also seen it as your Jesus and Alexander the Great Year--IOW, you're 33, and you haven't saved or conquered the world yet (you underachiever, you), but at least you're not dead!
Yep, that's my understanding of it, too.
Happy Birthday, sarameg! I hope it's fabulous!
{{{Suzi}}} Sweetie, you are NOT a failure. Real estate is really hard right now. Plus, you've made amazingly brave and bold moves this year to reinvent your life--those are
always
bumpy in many ways. Plus, plus--your kids are AWESOME. No one who raises kids like that could ever be a failure.
Thanks Kristin and everyone else. I'm ok - just bumming and frustrated cause there literally is not much I can do. I've been so busy with the move and settling in that I have ignored the rest and it just slammed me this afternoon. All the rest of the pieces of this stuff has come together fairly smoothly but this is one heck of a bump.
Gah, whatever. Look a river. In Egypt.
Kids, yes, kids are good. They are working together in the kitchen right now making brownies. I'm sitting at the end of the counter on my computer. We still have a bunch of boxes in the kitchen/living room, but it is starting to feel like home.
Ok, my kids are bright, but not bright enough to remember that we are a mile high now and that they need to look at the high altitude instructions that Betty Crocker so nicely provides.
Only awesome people were born in November of 1968.
I believe awesome people were also born in November of 1967. Just sayin'.
Happy birthday, sarameg!!!!!
